Isildur and Anarion.

The Perky Ent 02-21-2004 10:43 AM

Evisse?

It's your turn, Evisse!

Evisse the Blue 02-21-2004 10:59 AM

I was waiting for your confirmation! Now that I have it here I go:

Who had the One Ring for the shortest period of time?

The Perky Ent 02-21-2004 11:08 AM

Sorry for the confusion, Evisse! Now, who had it the shortest time? Would that be Deagol?

Sleepy Ranger 02-21-2004 02:56 PM

Deagol didn't exactly have it he just pick it up.
So I'll say Samwise Gamgee he kept it only for a while in Cirith Ungol and then gave it back to Frodo. And theres Galadriel but she didn't exactly have it either.

Evisse the Blue 02-21-2004 03:18 PM

Sorry, Sleepy, but Deagol counts as well. Please continue, Perky Ent.

The Perky Ent 02-21-2004 04:30 PM

How many ring Bearers were there in Middle Earth...and name them!

MWA HA HA :D :D

Sleepy Ranger 02-21-2004 04:38 PM

Sauron, Frodo, Smeagol, Bilbo, Isildur, Gandalf, Cirdan, Gil-Galad, Elrond, Galadriel, 7 Dwarves, Witch King, Khamul 7 more men.
And if you count Saruman, Finrod, Barahir, Beren, Aragorn.
So thats 32.

The Perky Ent 02-21-2004 04:43 PM

*****201th Post*****

  • [1]I'm counting Barahir, Saruman, Aragorn and all them
[2]You just made the same mistake you made in the last question!!!

EDIT: THIS IS MY 201TH POST!!!!!!

Sleepy Ranger 02-21-2004 04:46 PM

Deagol and Sam weren't ring-bearers. For they had it for too short a time.

The Perky Ent 02-21-2004 04:48 PM

Oh yeah! You're right. But your math is still wrong!

Arvedui III 02-21-2004 09:41 PM

I think that Sam counts because in the book, Elanor says that Sam passed on to the Grey Havens, last of the Ring-Bearers. He had the ring for the whole time it took him to find Frodo in Cirith Ungol. Deagol doesn't, because he only had it for maybe a few minutes at best.

And so by my tally there are 33 ringbearers: Isildur, Sauron, Frodo, Bilbo, Smeagol, Sam, Cirdan, Gil-Galad, Gandalf, Galadriel, Elrond, 7 dwarves, 9 men, Aragorn, Barahir, Beren, Finrod, Saruman, and Arwen. (Aragorn gave the ring of Barahir to her for a bit as a sign of faithfulness, but she could be ruled out along the same lines as Sam or Deagol)

The Saucepan Man 02-21-2004 10:08 PM

To bear the One Ring

The question of who qualifies as a bearer of the One Ring is a matter of some debate: To bear the One Ring. Please post there if you want to discuss this issue further.

As for this question, we'll have to go with whatever was in The Perky Ent's mind ...

The Perky Ent 02-21-2004 10:27 PM

Well, i'm gonna stick with Arvedui on this one! *wink* your turn!

Arvedui III 02-22-2004 09:07 AM

What's with the *wink*?

Thanks...um....right. Herm, new question: How many Orphans are there in LOTR, and name them.

NightKnight 02-22-2004 02:11 PM

Well, we have Frodo and Aragorn...and then Eomer and Eowyn. Are there more?
