Mine would have to be 'Brat-Chopper': it would get most use in threatening my little brother...

Celebgil might work.

Narya 02-04-2002 11:38 AM

If it is a speaking- sword.. how about Lilacor??

Rosie Posie Burrows 02-04-2002 02:24 PM

I like 'Mr Pointy' myself!
I'd probably call my sword 'Vanwalach, the Blunt and Cowardly'.
Vanwalach is elvish for Fred.
Not half as good as Mr Pointy or Bob the Idiot Chopper, I know, but it's the best I can do.

Lush 02-04-2002 08:50 PM

Courage the Cowardly Sword would be my pick (anyone here watch cartoons?).
Or maybe Big-&%$ Toothpick.
Well, seriously speaking, if I ever did get these hands of mine on a sword, I would name probably name it Poltava, after the site of the great battle that Russia fought with Sweden. Needless to say, Russia won that one (no offense to the Swedes!). Or Ilya Mooromets, after the mighty fairy-tale hero.

I was looking for a sword back before Christmas. I found it, but had no money at the time, when I did, it was gone. I gonna have to keep looking. But here's the names that I think I like:

Palanrosiel - Holy Warrior
Thalinedlor - God's Holy Warrior
Waenrûthion - God's Holy Sword
Tanquesse - Holy Sword

Aralaithiel 02-05-2002 07:45 PM

For a Monty Python theme, I would name mine "Come see the violence inherent in the system!" Now to type THAT into the Elven name generator! LOL!!! I really loved Bob the idiot chopper!

Ara'rial 02-05-2002 07:59 PM

Spanx Fenrir...I'm new at this. Courage is a cool cartoon. Heh heh...I get a kick everytime seeing the hole in his tooth...

Samwise 02-05-2002 08:15 PM

From the name generator, the rest of my swords' names:
Hobbit: Hugo Tunnelly from Woody End.

Orc: Púshtrak the Despoiler

Dwarf: Narin Talonsinger

Hm. Talonsinger kinda sounds neat....

Sam Gamgee

Aralaithiel 02-05-2002 08:19 PM

OK...I typed "Come see the violence inherent in the system" into the Elven name generator. And it gave me (are y'all trembling in fear yet?)...
Lostciriel

Way cool if you ask me!

Elven female warriors! Unite! Heed the call of Galadriel's Guard!

Eh, not an elf. Can I join anyway? *waves Paperweight the Unused shyly*

Hm. Courage always kind of scared me, though I laughed my head off when I saw that little spoof comercial where Shaggy and Scooby were threatening him! Anyone ever seen "Samurai Jack"? (Everytime I watch that, I keep thinking someone should just hand him a Bible and all his problems would be solved. "Aku, in the name of Jesus Christ, I bind you and banish you!" or something of the like.)

Aralaithiel 02-06-2002 09:03 AM

Sure Rosa! We'd love to have ya! You can chop off the orc's feet!

Rosa Underhill 02-06-2002 12:47 PM

Ha ha! I would make the term "ankle biter" a feared statement.

"Come back here, coward! I'll-I'll bite off your knee caps!" (Monty Python and the Holy Grail.)

Heh, of course, Frodo started the whole thing. I really wish they would've had him stabbing that orc's foot in the movie...

And the flying Gondorian heads gave me the chills. *shudder* Those poor people...

Aralaithiel 02-06-2002 03:26 PM

We'd make "ankle biter" your title!

Mista 02-06-2002 03:43 PM

I suspect mine would just end up being
Culgwath The Cheese Clever

Because it would sit in a drawer and only be used for one purpose. LOL

Mista

Sindalómiel 02-06-2002 09:46 PM

Can I join the Elf warrior group too please?

Nuinrog 02-06-2002 10:02 PM

Nibinrûnion means "Help! Help! Im being repressed!"

Durregiel 02-06-2002 11:13 PM

Hey Phil the Balrog,
Please dont call it Little Phil ..I have a friend who calls something else of his his little phil...
But like ur name Eglanedlorion, hehehe good name
But if i had a sword then i would name it Nevyulma Killer of fell beings. Pretty boring eh?

Narya 02-07-2002 12:07 PM

Thanks for the Welcome, Sam

Lostciriel is a really cool name... I´m just trying to imagine, how someone of those "anarcho syndicated commun- dwellers" would look like with sword named Lostciriel (while creeping around in the dirt)

Lhundael 02-07-2002 12:20 PM

"Aragothdrianel", yes that would be it
or "Berielarcriel"

Aralaithiel 02-07-2002 03:55 PM

Imagine an elf that has been mudwrestling with his/her sword and you get an idea. I love that part of "Holy Grail" We all had our "parts" when I would watch it over & Over with my college buddies. I was Dennis.
Yes Sindolomiel, you may join. All are welcome! I don't know what Lady Galadriel would think though, of a melting pot of a guard! ORCS NEED NOT APPLY!

Rosa Underhill 02-07-2002 04:36 PM

The blade Saradoc Brown (Paperweight the Unused) now has a new, nobler name: Erkemenion! (That's elvish for "ankle biter"!)

Orc #1: Man, Ted, what happened to you?
Orc #2 (Ted): *hobbles in with a bandaged foot* It was that dung-hill rat and her wretched blade, Erkemenion! Curse the Elf who forged that ankle biting sword!

Yay, now I just have to name my sword....hmmm. Will get back to you on that one, any ideas would be much appreciated too.

Narya 02-08-2002 02:00 PM

I´ve got some names from the Elven Name generator:
Culalquamegil, Maikalad (meaning things like Headchopper the brutal)
Or how about Sauralda- chopper of useless people
and Thauronoon- Slayer of useless people.
or Orogrod- Orcslayer, the living death...
You can get some good names there but I think if you want to have a real good name you should translate a name into Sindarin or Quenya. I cannot speak any elven language yet, but I´m about to learn it.

Narya 02-08-2002 02:26 PM

I like the fight with the Black Knight (?) (and many other scenes), Aralaithiel.
I have never watched "Holy Grail" in original
(so i´m not sure about the name)

BtW: Can I join the female Elve Warrior guild, too. I am an Elven ranger and very good at archery..

shieldmaiden 02-08-2002 02:31 PM

I call my pocket swiss army knife "Mr. Jasper Cutty", I just like the sound of that.
As for the sword, I don't know, I think I don't have the strenght to use one.
Btw, Courage the Cowerdly Sword!!! LOL, I love that cartoon.

Samwise 02-08-2002 10:13 PM

Orogaerion 02-09-2002 10:45 AM

I would name My sword Ilterendi, wich means Unbreakeble in elvish, sounds neat!!

Estelyn Telcontar 02-09-2002 01:21 PM

Sharpest thing I own is my trusty rotary cutter, my faithful companion on all adventures in the fields of Patchwork - it definitely needs to be sheathed when unused, otherwise it's really dangerous! The elven name generator gave me "Pherethir" - sounds like something to fear, doesn't it?!

Rose Cotton 02-09-2002 06:47 PM

I typed Slice and Dice into the elven name generator and got Andore. Sounds good to me. I also tried I will bite your ankles and got Waencu. You can use that name if you want Rosa.

Rose Cotton 02-09-2002 06:49 PM

Hey since the elves are starting a group why shouldn't the hobbits create a group. Hobbits Unite.(although if you would rather be with the elves I understand)

Aralaithiel 02-09-2002 07:40 PM

Hey Rose Cotton! Hobbits are allowed to join the Guard! The only excluded group are ORCS.

Elven-Maiden 02-10-2002 01:17 PM

I would name my sword lightsaber
oh yeah....

Samwise 02-11-2002 04:06 PM

Orogaerion, welcome to the 'Downs! Please post much!

You CAN'T rename "Paperweight the Unused." It's perfect. I laughed about that for days every time I tought about it. There I go again. Please tell me you are not serious.

Rosa Underhill 02-11-2002 11:43 PM

Hmmm... I'm going to have to get two swords; you're right, I loved "Paperweight the Unused", too! (Or, Saradoc Brown, as it's more nobly known.) Erkmenion can be the dagger I keep in my boot.

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 02-12-2002 07:14 AM

I have a sword. The best name for it is probably Leafbane as that's about all it's ever cut in anger, although I did once give my finger a nasty nick when I was cleaning it. Alternatively I could call it 'Oscar', because it's sharp and imprisoned in Reading.
