Child of the 7th Age 08-15-2004 05:06 PM

Thanks Piosenniel.

Everyone,

I will also be carrying along a secondary character. I realized that Luindal and the other Elvesand good Lossoth may need to get messages from or have dealings with the Elders and decided to create a suitable Lossoth.

I've contacted Regin and gotten his approval for this profile.

Note to the "Good Guys" : If you are a good guy (Lossoth or Elf) and need to mention Alahseey briefly in your own posts -- perhaps learning about something or getting details about some mission you've been asked to conduct -- feel free to use her for a paragraph or so. If you need to use her more extensively, just let me know and we can probably arrange this.

_____________________________

NAME: Alahseey

AGE: unknown, but definitely over 90

GENDER: female

RACE: Man – Lossoth

WEAPONS: She knows how to handle a hunting knife and ax in her daily work, but has always been able to rely on her menfolk -- husbands and sons – on those few occasions when she needed to be defended from a mortal threat.

APPEARANCE: Long grey hair arranged in two plaits hang down over the front of her shoulders. Alahseey is small and tough and strong, from a life spent following the caribou herds. In recent years, it has been harder for her to do some things that she formerly took for granted. But she is exceedingly stubborn and will push off the hand of anyone trying to help her. She is quite determined to do things herself as long as she is able.

Alahseey has dark gleaming eyes and a ready smile for those whom she counts among her friends. Still, she is no fool and is not easily taken in by anyone who would take wrongful advantage of her or her family. She wears thick leather breeches, sturdy boots, and a parka made from caribou fur.

GENERAL: Alahseey is one of the Elders for her tribe. Her husband Inak, who died years ago, once served as clan leader. Since then, she has lived with her two sons, Grif and Claw. She deeply loves them and would do anything to help and protect them.

Before Inak's death, he insisted that his wife be added to the Circle of Elders. Despite the initial hesitations of some of the tribe, this arrangement has proven its worth: Alahseey is bright and has served her people well. Ignar, the current clan leader, has named her as the Lossoth Elder who will deal directly with the Elves and will bring any messages or concerns from Luindal directly to the attention of the council.

Imladris 08-16-2004 12:40 AM

Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but what exactly should the Corsairs to be doing?

Child of the 7th Age 08-16-2004 02:46 AM

To all good Elves and allied Snowmen out there as well as those whose intentions are less honorable -

I will be putting a post up tomorrow afternoon for Luindal and the Elder Alahseey. She will bring the "good" Snowmen onto the Spirit--the ones who'll be working for the Elves. (Good Snowmen -- I won't speak for your characters but I will make brief introductions and indicate some of the duties you will have.) Luindal will also outline the major task of the good guys for the next two weeks (real time), which has been taken from a "secret" outline that Regin has in his possession. :D

I think Regin will be doing something similar for you evil folk.

Hope this helps.

Child of the 7th Age 08-17-2004 12:01 AM

My monstor post is up. The Elves and good Snowmen are to go to bed and awake the next morning to go to the Great Cavern, that which the Lossoth term the "House of the Dead". Meanwhile, you are welcome to do a bedtime post if that suits your fancy. You can say anything you like about the folly of Luindal and Alahseey and what you think of your new "allies".

Luindal will generally be giving the marching orders to the good guys; Marreth to the bad guys. I believe that the bad guys marching orders will be posted tomorrow by Regin and he will have more general suggestions as to where we're heading and when we go.

Arry 08-17-2004 04:43 AM

Carandû and Annû have invited Galhardir and his nephew to bunk in with them.

Annû has also asked if Galhardir knows anything about this 'Great Cavern'. It sounds somewhat ominous - since it's other name is the House of the Dead.

Regin Hardhammer 08-17-2004 07:03 PM

My post is up. We'll be doing the cave scenes until August 29. Bad guys- in the next day or two real time talk among yourselves, talk with me privately, or make preparations for your spying. Check your pms every so often. Luindal, please enter the caves by Thursday evening and the Corsairs will go in soon after.

- Regin

Lalwendë 08-18-2004 01:24 PM

Kitanna - I've sent Tarn off sneaking to find out what's going on, if you want Nilak to do any sneaking with him or not then let me know! Maybe they don't entirely like or trust one another, in true bad-guy fashion?!

Regin - I'm guessing that the 'bad' Lossoth are involved in the search of the cave (which sounds truly frightening)? Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm busy thinking up my next moves!

I'm enjoying this! ;)

Kitanna 08-18-2004 03:22 PM

Sounds good to me, Lalwende! :D I'll have Nilak do some sneaky with Tarn, with your leave.

Regin Hardhammer 08-18-2004 04:11 PM

Lalwende- Yes, the Pro-Corsair Lossoth are involved in the spying also.

The cave is scary. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Spoooooky

Well maybe not that scary, but still. It's not a nice place. Let me remind everyone that this is a spying mission for the Corsairs only. No real fighting.

Child of the 7th Age 08-19-2004 01:35 PM

Pio,

Luindal's save response to Rôg is up. I am no expert on caves. I went to several websites on spelunking for help! If you see anything obviously wrong, please let me know.....

~Child

Lalwendë 08-19-2004 02:42 PM

Regin - cheers for clearing that up! All I can say is the cave has certainly scared me!

Kitanna - That's brilliant! I've just put on a post that sets up Tarn and Nilak to meet, so they can do all that nasty sneaking. :)

Child of the 7th Age 08-19-2004 07:06 PM

Save on game thread

I have just put a save on the game thread in case any poster(s) need a space to write something before the entry to the caves. You can post on the discussion thread and Pio or I will paste it in. I will erase it later if no one needs it. My own save( and I believe Regin's as well )will be going up shortly.

Things are a little crazy here but I will try to get it filled in late tonight.

Regin Hardhammer 08-19-2004 10:56 PM

Have been swamped with school work and need to hit the sack. I'll try to fill in my save tomorrow, hopefully in the morning.

Kitanna, Laiwende, Rin,

Please check your pms.

Imladris 08-19-2004 11:21 PM

I hope that my post for Jynne (he offers to become the advance scout) is alright?

Child of the 7th Age 08-20-2004 01:32 AM

Good Snowmen and Elves..... My preliminary post is up about approaching the cave, but I may still have an edit or two. So could the good guys hold up until I give you the word to go ahead with cave posts, hopefully tomorrow, when I edit the final piece. Meanwhile you can be thinking how you might want to approach the search.

Child

Child of the 7th Age 08-20-2004 12:21 PM

You might want to take a look at save #25 that has now been filled in by Pio and myself. I have also finished my edits of Luindal's instructions to the Elves.....

Niluial 08-20-2004 01:40 PM

My post will be up ASAP, latest tonight, I've been busy this week, but it will be up! Sorry for the delay.

Regin Hardhammer 08-20-2004 03:22 PM

OK, the advance party of Corsairs and our Lossoth allies have gone inside to make sure there's not an ambush. (All the real posters are in this group. :D )Please somebody signal the others waiting outside with the lantern (miscellaneous carry alongs) so they can join us.

Rog is doing some advance scouting of his own, and the rest of Luindal's mob is not far behind.

Everyone can now do posts in the cave. Elves and good Snowmen just do your entrance to the cave until a Corsair or two gets something up. Remember bad guys, no fighting yet. Just spying. See what you can find out in the next few days. Early next week I do believe we will have a surprize for that nasty Luindal!

We will finish the cave this week.

Arry 08-20-2004 04:27 PM

Carrandû and Annû have gone into the main cavern, and are now bound down a small tunnel leading into one of the small side caverns.

Anyone care to join our little group?

If so - just tie on to Carandû - he's the Elf in back!

Imladris 08-20-2004 06:21 PM

Well, as most of you should know I'm a bit thick at times. Currently I'm just a bit confused...not greatly confused...just a bit.

This is how I currently understand the game:

Both the Corsairs, elves, and Snowmen have found out about the Cave of Death.

Before dawn Marreth sent in a detachment of advance scouts. They will signal the other Corsairs when it's safe for them to advance.

The elves and Snowmen are going to search the cave for the stones. Currently, the Snowman have entered the cave.

When will the Corsair Advance group signal the other corsairs? How will the Corsairs get in when the Snowman and elves are already in?

If the only entrance to the Caves is the entrance that Marreth slipped into, wouldn't he have encountered Jynne and the other Snowman? And who is Marreth spying on? I'm sorry that I'm so confused...

Child of the 7th Age 08-20-2004 06:34 PM

Imladris,

I'm not Regin so he may have something to say about this. But when he and I discussed the outline and the proposal, this is the feeling I got (as well as just looking where we are in the story and seeing where we're going).

Quote:

When will the Corsair Advance group signal the other corsairs? How will the Corsairs get in when the Snowman and elves are already in?
Since the Elves are already entering, I would suggest that someone just give that as a reference in their post: that the lantern signal had already been given and now all the Corsairs (about 12 ) are inside.....

Quote:

If the only entrance to the Caves is the entrance that Marreth slipped into, wouldn't he have encountered Jynne and the other Snowman? And who is Marreth spying on? I'm sorry that I'm so confused...
As I said I would handle the Corsair entrance as having already happened in someone's post....just refer to the fact that the Corsairs and allies have taken their positions. (It would be impossible to coordinate the order of the posts completely as it would be too complicated.)

As to people seeing people, this is a huge, huge cave totally in the dark except for the torch you carry. There are many passages. Marreth only has 12 men. I do think they could be hiding inside and Luindal and his men would not necessarily see them.

Marreth's men are spying to find out how many Elves and Lossoth's there are in Luindal's party, are they heavily armed, what success they have in their searching, etc.. They are also thinking of a good way to make trouble for Luindal. They can see Luindal's men but are staying out of sight.

So please stay hidden and make comments on the Elves, and perhaps on the cave itself as well. At some point Marreth will give you a signal to regather your forces outside the cave: probably after the weekend. He'll want to know what you've discovered and if you've got ideas on defeating Luindal.

At that point, I imagine Regin will have something to say about the trouble he has planned for next week (real time).

Regin -- does this cover things?
Imladris - does this help?

Imladris 08-20-2004 06:55 PM

Okay...that does help...I was just getting confused...I'm sorry.

I think the thing that really through me was the fact of Marreth going off to do some spying of his own.

My apologies...

Imladris

Hello

I just wanted to inform you that I filed in my save earlier today- about time.

I also wrote another post which I asked Child to paste up via PM. (I'll get back to that)

May Galhardir join you? If so, I'll write a post right away.

Thanks,
Oro

Arry 08-21-2004 04:44 PM

The brothers would be glad to have you join them! You can take us into one of the side caverns through another connecting tunnel.

One thing about your previous post, though, I'd like you to edit please:

The two Elves are curious about what the cave is like, they like to be prepared for new adventures - but to be quite honest, they are not frightened (petrified, I think you described them as being).

So if you will go ahead and edit that, I would appreciate it.

Great! :D

And, of course, I'll edit it. :)

EDIT: Post edited. Is it alright Arry?

Child of the 7th Age 08-21-2004 11:43 PM

Everyone

Orofaniel has added a post to save box #30, which is right above Luindal's post. With Luindal's consent, Galhardir has decided that his young nephew will stay aboard the ship while the rest of us are in the cave.

*******************

Oro-

To make your post fit in the chronology, I made a very minor change -- just one sentence. It now says that Galhardir is talking with Luindal in the cabin (not out on deck after the speech). I've also edited my own post that comes afterwards to say that the conversation has just taken place.

Let me know if this works for you.

I edited my post to include the info about the side tunnels and caverns.

FYI - I had the tide be at its lowest point when the Elves and Lossoth entered the main cavern.

The tide shifts, from fully out to fully in, in about a 6 - 7 hour period, so I had Rôg and Bear determine that high tide would be around noon. And of course, the Elves and Lossoth should be out of there long before that occurs since the tunnels will fill with water long before the caverns do.

~*~ Pio

Child of the 7th Age 08-22-2004 02:32 AM

Pio -

Luindal thanks you for that useful information. In his next post (sometime tomorrow), he will ask for brave volunteers who are willing to go exploring in those side tunnels..... Applicants must also be good swimmers and preferably be able to breath under water!

That's great! :) Thanks.

The save I set up yesterday is now filled. Only a short post.

Arry- Do you want me to edit anything? :)
