Feanor of the Peredhil 08-02-2004 06:10 PM

It's niether Sauron, nor Elrond, and actually has very little to do with life as we know it. A hint: The 'O's are there for a very good reason.

Fea

PS: Witch-King: I was fully going to write "Grima son of Galmod" for your GsoG one... Good thing I didn't get here on time.

Gil-Galad 08-02-2004 06:18 PM

the Three O's probaly don't mean Cheerios*gasp* but probaly the three elven rings... so maybe the three elven rings or even the one ring

Witch-King 08-02-2004 06:24 PM

Awww, that's it for sure. Should have thought of that.

Gil-Galad 08-02-2004 06:28 PM

maybe another time Lord of the nine...maybe another time...

The Perky Ent 08-02-2004 06:32 PM

Gandalf possibly?

Gil-Galad 08-02-2004 06:33 PM

strange how i was thinking Gandalf or Cirdan...

The Perky Ent 08-02-2004 06:35 PM

Yeah, and BTW Witch-King, if Elrond is as old as dirt, Cirdan and Galadriel must be father time and mother nature ;)

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-02-2004 07:30 PM

I must say, you are all rather clever and are coming up with applicable things that I never even considered. So... the answer is not the Rings, or the Ring, it is not Cirdan, Gandalf, or anything else to do with actual rings.

I gave the hint in my original post:

should be pretty easy to anyone who's either been around for awhile, or likes to dig through old closed-down threads
To clarify my hint... the thread that inspired my screen name was a thread in Mirth that was closed down ages ago. Which is why, unless you like to sift through old threads, you probably won't figure it out. To make it even easier... the answer is funny.

The Perky Ent 08-02-2004 07:59 PM

Galadriel?

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-02-2004 08:07 PM

Not Galadriel. Not an Elf at all.

The Perky Ent 08-02-2004 08:22 PM

Gollum?

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-02-2004 08:36 PM

Not Gollum either, although I think both Galadriel and Gollum were involved in this thread, if I remember correctly. I KNOW Aragorn was... and Eowyn. Those aren't answers though, so don't bother guessing them. :D

Firefoot 08-02-2004 09:18 PM

I have a strong feeling it's Boromir the Disco King...

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-02-2004 09:28 PM

And as we all know, we should follow our strong feelings, Firefoot. Boromir the Disco King it is. *trails off into singing "Oh, oh, oh, oh stayin' alive, stayin' alive!"* Burn Bori burn. You're go.

Fea

Firefoot 08-02-2004 09:40 PM

Get down Boromir! Oh, wrong thread. :D

Anyhow, who is the BlondeVassel

Boromir88 08-03-2004 05:29 AM

Is here

Lol, I sort of like being referred to as the "disco king."

Anyway Firefoot, the only blonde elf I know (if she even is blonde) would be Galadriel. Seems like a reasonable guess.

Firefoot 08-03-2004 05:29 AM

Nope.

Essex 08-03-2004 07:33 AM

do you mean blonde vassal as I can't find a definition for vassel?

If so, could it be Theoden or Eomer?

Boromir88 08-03-2004 07:37 AM

Wasn't fast enough.

Essex, I was thinking maybe it has something to do with "Firefoot's" sn, so I was thinking along the lines of Eomer as well, but snuck it in before me.

Well, I'll go with my back up option Eowyn.

Witch-King 08-03-2004 07:56 AM

A Vassal is a servant to a King. In Feudalism, you have Peasants, Serfs, and Vassals. Vassals are nobility, sworn to serve the King in exchange for land. They own a fiefdom, or property. Serfs work the land and Peasants also work the land. Serfs cannot be seperated from the land they work on, and I believe are allowed to grow crops there. Peasant and Serf were often used interchangebally, but Pesant could also mean slave. So, let's see, blondevassal. Hmmm...

Firefoot 08-03-2004 10:30 AM

Yes, I meant vassal. Apologies.

And it has nothing to do with my nick... it's in the Sil.

Witch-King 08-03-2004 10:47 AM

*Sits on his dragon and waits, as he hasn't read the Sil.*

Boromir88 08-03-2004 11:10 AM

Darnit

It has to be in the Sil, well that kills me I surely thought I had a good answer with Erkenbrand.

Gil-Galad 08-03-2004 11:14 AM

Aredhel? Turgons sister i belive

Firefoot 08-03-2004 11:26 AM

Not Aredhel.

There is a specific reason for the "Blonde" part; not just because he/she has blonde hair.

Gil-Galad 08-03-2004 11:26 AM

something makes me think Mim

Firefoot 08-03-2004 11:28 AM

Nope.

Evisse the Blue 08-05-2004 03:07 AM

Could it be Glorfindel? (yes, the first age one  ). Assuming it's not one and the same. ;)

Firefoot 08-05-2004 05:29 AM

Nope.

Morsul the Dark 12-06-2004 04:46 PM

now i cant count but i think 10 days have passed...soo...

Hippy14000

Feanor of the Peredhil 12-06-2004 04:54 PM

Elrond?

Boromir88 12-06-2004 07:06 PM

Uhhh, how about Aragorn.

the phantom 12-08-2004 01:24 AM

Hippy14000? Hee hee. Anyone who's ever read "Bored of the Rings" I'm sure is thinking of Tom Bombadil (aka Tim Benzadrine). :p

(if you have no clue what I'm talking about, just go out and buy "Bored of the Rings", it's funny stuff)

In case anyone wonders what the answer to Firefoot's unanswered question was-

Beor and the other early men that crossed into Beleriand come to mind. They became vassals under the Noldorin Kings. Beor actually means "vassal"- but Beor and his people did not have blonde hair.

So, I can only assume that the answer was the blonde-headed Marach or one of his descendants- Hador, Gundor, Galdor, or Hurin. My guess would be Hador, since he was specifically known as the "golden-headed" or "golden-haired".

Firefoot 12-08-2004 02:58 PM

Phantom gets... um... an ice cream sundae with as many toppings as he wants. ;) :D It was Hador, for any of you who are wondering.

Morsul the Dark 12-10-2004 07:04 AM

phantom is right

the phantom 12-11-2004 08:46 PM

Okay...

Who is murky_wailer?

Evisse the Blue 12-12-2004 01:29 PM

Gollum?

the phantom 12-12-2004 02:11 PM

nah, not Smeagol

Feanor of the Peredhil 12-12-2004 05:35 PM

Quote:

Who is murky_wailer?
murky = Mirkwood
wailer = "Ai, ai, a balrog!"

Thus murky_wailer equals Legolas. ;)

Fea

PS: hehe

the phantom 12-12-2004 09:23 PM

Yeah, yeah, I know you can read my mind, Fea- no need to rub it in with the perfect explanation and all. ;)
