Captain of Despair 12-31-2004 03:54 PM

Greetings from a new addition to the Downs. I have come to this site many times to read over various discussions, but today I finally decided to sign up so I could join in on all the fun. I'm definitely no Tolkien expert but I have read the Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales. Plus, I own the Complete Guide to Middle-Earth and The Atlas of Middle-Earth so maybe I won't be completely useless. Anyway, I justed wanted to say hello and I look forward to being a part of this great forum.

Gil-Galad 12-31-2004 04:00 PM

well have fun...

King of the North 12-31-2004 04:26 PM

I been here since Nov. I am a huge fan of Tolkien and am quite knowledgeable of his works.

Boromir88 12-31-2004 08:13 PM

Welcome to the downs Captain and King (interesting two titles of status, Captain and King, ha). I'm tired of saying the same greetings, or saying other peoples greetings, so hopefully this one hasn't been used yet. Enjoy your stay here in Tyrn Gorthad. :)

Come now, Gil-Galad! Is that all you can say to welcome the newbies? ;) They`ve been a bit scarce lately! Hopefully it`s just because of the holidays.

Welcome Captain and King! Hope you enjoy being dead as well. :D

Mae govannen!

Hello! I'm Nukapei, and I'm new here to the Downs.

Boromir88 01-01-2005 03:05 PM

Welcome to Tyrn Gorthad, nukapei (not again  ), may you enjoy your many stages of death here.

Nukapei 01-01-2005 04:25 PM

Thanks!

Thanks, I hope to. Oh, and I don't mind having the same greeting said to me as was previously said to someone else -- there's only so many ways you can say "Welcome"! ;)

Welcome to the Barrow-Downs, Nukapei! I hope you enjoy your stay here. :D
By the way, I like your siggy. I wrote that in my friends year books last year.

Nukapei 01-01-2005 04:28 PM

Thanks! What did your friends think of that? Or did they just write it off as "that crazy Lord of the Rings freak again"? :D

Actually, that`s exactly what they did. :D

Nimmy, why do you keep calling him 'Sugar'?

Elennar Starfire 01-01-2005 08:42 PM

Hey newbies! Enjoy your deaths, I hope the worms won't tickle you too much.

Nukapei 01-01-2005 09:04 PM

Elrond's_Daughter, I was wondering the same thing, but didn't want to ask. Figured I'd figure out sooner or later . . .

And Elennar Starfire, it's not so much the worms that get to me as the @#%* dirt! LOL

Encaitare 01-01-2005 09:14 PM

Hi, Nukapei! I bid thee welcome; hope you enjoy yourself here.

Darn that dirt.... ;)

Gil-Galad 01-01-2005 10:16 PM

hi im lucy and i love writing poems and stories and tolkein has really inspired me ;)

Tuor of Gondolin 01-02-2005 02:12 PM

Hello lucyannalulu.

If you haven't, you might want to check out the HoME books.
There are some interesting, longish songs/poems otherwise
not in print, including Beren and Luthien.

Boromir88 01-02-2005 02:17 PM

Welcome to the downs, Aragorn and Lucy. Enjoy your stay here in Tyrn Gorthad :) .

elronds_daughter 01-02-2005 02:29 PM

Hello, Lucy! Enjoy being dead!

Boro, do you think you could use your imagination and come up with a different greeting, instead of using the same one? Not that I have any room to talk....;)

Haha, I stick with the same greeting until I can think of another one, and right now I'm dried up. So, if you have any suggestions feel free to spill 'em out. :D

elronds_daughter 01-02-2005 02:33 PM

Why not just the classic "Enjoy being dead" or some variant.....

Because he told me I could. ;)

the phantom 01-02-2005 05:03 PM

Ha!

You newbies think you can just stroll onto this forum without proving yourselves?!

You must earn the right to be called "Barrow-Downer".

To earn the title, you must complete the phantom's diabolical and torturous challenge of death!

First, you must rescue an innocent pun from the clutches of the evil Dr. Gil-Galad.

Second, you must steal three green boxes from the Terrible Trio- Saucepan Man, Davem, and Fordim.

Third, you must start twice as many threads as Boromir88.

Fourth, you must....

...start a redundant thread on Balrog wings!!!

MWU HA HA HA HA HA!!!

Only then will you be granted member status.

Encaitare 01-02-2005 06:00 PM

Warmest -- well, coldest, I guess, if we're all dead -- welcomes to ye, Aragorn1 and Lucy. See you around, I hope.

Truly too harsh a challenge for the newbies! Sauce will beat them over the head with a pan, davem will unleash his legions of spiders, and Fordim... well, he'll just overpower them with big words. It's too cruel!

Just kidding, guys, don't come after me... ;) :p

Boromir88 01-02-2005 06:07 PM

::stops pointing at Gil-galad, and points at Phantom for the reasons the newbies aren't introducing themselves here::  :p

Gil-Galad 01-02-2005 07:11 PM

well i'm pretty sure i'm a better doctor then dr.pepper, is he even a real doctor? i don't think he qualifies to be a softdrink...

hey i'm actually stil lwaiting for my title award...Burninating from beyond teh grave woooooooooooooo :o

Nukapei 01-02-2005 07:17 PM

Truly, Phantom, is that really necessary? *yawns* :D
