Pippin liked to help Legolas toilet-paper Elrond's house. They would sneak over late at night to pull the prank, then ring the door bell and dash off after leaving a vat of chocolate pudding on the door step. Elrond would come out, step into the pudding, and then see the white banners flapping from his trees. Soon he found out about the two trouble makers and made the Fellowship leave Rivendell a whole month early.

Why does Gollum talk to himself?

Well, the truth is, he and Merry were really bored while everyone else were in meetings all the time, so, to the great vexation of all the Elves and a large portion of the other people in Rivendell, the miscreants went around TPing all the buildings and trees and things. It was all Pippin's idea though; why do you think Gandalf was so annoyed at him all the time?

Well, obviously not that sad-sack of a husband, Denethor, that's for sure. The many amores of Finduilas were the talk of the Minas Tirith cocktail circuit for many a day, until that awful war knocked it out of the headlines.

Rumors had her hanging with Beregond, The Herb Master in the House of Healing, (where she went for her face peels) and that young stud in charge of the Buttery, who was common but knew how to show a Lady a good time.

Eventually, the rumors drove Denethor so wild with jealousy, that he tried to use the Palantir in order to catch her in the act. But he tuned into the wrong frequency - and the rest is history, as they say.

Lobelia often payed Sam to get some good information to gossip with. Like the time he overheard the thirty-two-year-old Frodo ask Bilbo to tuck him in and tell him a bedtime story because Frodo was afraid that there were Nazgûl under the bed and in the closet.
