m..n..o..p...Q! muhaha! I know the alphabet! *ahem* but theres nothing for it. So on to...R!

R is for Ring of Isengard which was the ring of mountain surrounding the tower or Orthanc. The Ents tore into this, which would make it quite the tourism site in later ages.

And people, provide a description of the item/person/place when you post. Those are the rules.

S is for Silmarils-the jewels that Feanor made in which the light of the Two Trees of Valinor was imprisoned.

S is for The island of Sarn Gebir, near which the fellowship was attacked while in the boats.

T is for...t is for....um.....Tower of Cirith Ungol! I'm not sure, can that be classified as a landmark? [img]smilies/confused.gif[/img]

U is for Udûn a deep circular valley ringed by sheer black barren cliffs with two passes, Cirith Gorgor to the North and Isenmouthe to the South. It's interesting to not the name Udûn means Hell as well as the name for this valley.

Maybe nicknames is a nice topic for the next round. So don't write down the real names, but things they were called otherwise.

A is for Annatar: The name Sauron gave himself in Eregion.

REMEMBER: We are doing people/places/things which have other names. Do not just randomly name off some words. It's always good to check the first post of the set of the alphabet that is currently being listed. That way you can't go wrong.

Sauron the Great, also known as the Dark Lord, the [self appointed] Ruler of Middle-earth, Enemy of the Free Peoples, Black Master of the land of Mordor, Eye of the Dark Tower, Seducer, Betrayer, Shadow of Despair, and The Lord of the Rings of Power.

Slinker, Stinker, Sméagol. Other names for Gollum, the first two courtesy of Samwise Gamgee.
