Good girl, you got there eventually ;)
To that I must refrain from a comeback and stick with a generalized :p

Heh...I didn't get the no-inkling thing until just now...I feel slow... But the funny thing is that I saw your name the same day a girl in my English class was given the nickname 'Moink' so of course...

Anyway, many welcomes to Noinkling and Telperaca, and anyone else I've not yet welcomed!

Elfchick7 11-16-2004 08:41 PM

Welcome and Greetings to all!!!

Greetings friends! It seems that it has been forever since I last haunted the BD. :) I can not believe that I stayed away for so long. The thing that I really love about the BD is that even though I seem to be perpetually ignorant to all things Tolkien( i.e. no matter how much I learn, I have still only scratched the surface of Tolkiens depth and detail), no body treats me like a fool for not knowing what seems toi be common knowledge. ;) Y'all are great! Namarië

Telperaca 11-17-2004 04:17 AM

Thankyou for the lovely welcomes :)

Elven-Maiden 11-18-2004 09:27 PM

I'm back!!

Hello everybody!

I'm sure most of you don't remember me since it's been years since I've posted anything, but I've come back, and hopefully for good this time.

I'm hoping to meet lots of new people, and re-unite with any old friends who are still hanging around here. I'm missed this forum and all it's wonderful people.

rutslegolas 11-19-2004 08:12 AM

To our newcomers Welcome and to our old hands Welcome back - Albus Dumbledore.

And as Rowling says Welcome back Elven-Maiden

elronds_daughter 11-20-2004 07:22 AM

A very warm Welcome Back to Elven-Maiden and Elfchick7!

Cheers!

Durfuiniel 11-21-2004 04:22 AM

Hey you guys,
I just found this page and thought it would be great to register:)
Firstly I have to say I'm german, so please overlook my mistakes;) 'cause school english isn't enough for writing here I think...
I'm 16 years old, female and I love the Lord of the Rings for a very long time. It started very early when I saw the books on my father's shelf and I was fascinated by the minute.
I read them again and again and the same I did with the Hobbit, the Silmarillion and other Tolkien books.
First I read them in german but I think the originals are much better, especially better than the newer translation which is really really bad. The worst thing I ever read so I stopped reading after a short time and read the originals.
I hope you understand what I'm writing and it's not too wrong but I'll do my best*promis*

Lalwendë 11-21-2004 05:40 AM

Welcome Durfuiniel

I have to say, from reading your first post, your English is fantatstic, it quite puts my own stumbling attempts at German to shame. :)

Boromir88 11-21-2004 06:57 AM

Welcome to the forum Durfuiniel, I hope you enjoy your levels of death here. :)

P.S. about the English, I'm afraid you're probably better at it then me. I have a tendancy to make up words that don't even exist.

elronds_daughter 11-21-2004 12:57 PM

Welcome, Durfuiniel! Your English sounds good to me! Hope you enjoy death in its various stages. ;):D

It's alright, you're not the only person here for whom English is a second language. We'll be able to understand what you mean. And your English may improve greatly posting around here. Mine certainly has, and English is my native language!

A very warm welcome to Durfuiniel!

EarthBound 12-02-2004 12:01 PM

Wow, I posted here in the fall of 2001 about a month before the first movie came out (under a different name that can't recall anymore, lol).

Hello to everyone, I'm prone to humor and lots of dry silliness and own a mini-oliphaunt that likes to follow me around the boards (unfortunately leaves mini-messes, ahem, for me to pick up too).

Soooo, (looks around room) where do I go for a pizza and beer around here? :p (I love this smiley!) :p

Tsk tsk, Boromir, whatever happened to this being a "family friendly forum"? :p ;)

the phantom 12-02-2004 03:31 PM

What's not "family friendly" about aroma therapy and a nice, long bath? (which was obviously what Boro was referring to)

I, miller 12-05-2004 05:39 PM

Hi

I'm a newly registered, um, well, I don't know if that makes me a member, so I'm a newly registered person. I found this site through a google search reference to the "Translations from the Elvish" project, which really intrigued me, as I've been doing a small scale project of the same nature for the last two years (intermittantly). I hope I'm doing the right thing by posting here. I got kinda toasty at the only other discussion forum I've been a member of, and I hope I learned more about how to be a part of such a community. (That's not an indication that I am a troublemaker, I hope). The posts I've read here are all quite stimulating, articulate, and fun.

Imladris 12-05-2004 06:22 PM

Welcome, I, Miller!

Yes, you are doing the right thing...well...it's not a rule that you have to post here on the New Members thread...it's just a suggestion....

Boromir88 12-05-2004 08:24 PM

Welcome to the downs miller, hope you enjoy your death :) .

Rochelle 12-05-2004 11:22 PM

Well I'm not exactly a "new member" but I haven't been on since about April! I just wanted to re-introduce myself! I'm 22 and live near Seattle, WA but currently I'm in my senior year at Washington State University! I love Lord of the Rings and enjoy learning about the elvish language as well as the geography of middle earth. Feel free to chat with me, I'm friendly!

OldTomBombadil 12-05-2004 11:41 PM

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!
Ring a dong! hop along! fal lal the willow!
Tom Bom, jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo!

Greetings, my merry friends! :)

My mother introduced me to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books in 1973 when I was 11 years old, and I've been a great fan ever since.

Although I received a copy of the first printing of The Silmarillion for Christmas in 1977, I confess that it was many years later before I read it in its entirety. However, I've now read it through about seven times and enjoy it more with each successive reading.

I've very much enjoyed Peter Jackson's film adaptations. He's accomplished what was previously thought impossible, and nearly proved so by Ralph Bakshi in the late '70s, that is, successfully bringing Professor Tolkien's works to the big screen. While I can't say I'm enthralled with every departure from the books, I do feel that, by-and-large, the films are fantastic. I'm very much hoping that he's also able to bring The Hobbit to the big screen.

the phantom 12-06-2004 01:40 AM

I don't like Cougars, so you'd better watch your step, Rochelle.
