The Saucepan Man 03-11-2004 04:31 AM

Is #3 Fatty Bolger's refrain: Awake! Fear! Fire! Foes! Awake!?

Firefoot 03-11-2004 06:20 AM

Evisse and Nilpaurion - both getting colder...

Saucepan Man - burning up! Just a little bit farther.

The Saucepan Man 03-11-2004 08:05 AM

#3 Crickhollow?

Finwe 03-11-2004 11:25 AM

6) Tuor?

Firefoot 03-11-2004 02:54 PM

Saucepan Man - your last guess was closer.
Finwe - still cold.

Hint - #6 is in UT.

Arestevana 03-11-2004 03:06 PM

Continuining Saucepan Man's guess...
#3 Horn-call of Buckland?

Firefoot 03-11-2004 03:23 PM

Yes, it is the Horn Call of Buckland.

Nilpaurion Felagund 03-11-2004 07:31 PM

6.

Beregar? Erendis?

Firefoot 03-11-2004 08:55 PM

Nilpaurion, getting even colder.

It's a closer relationship than that.

Nilpaurion Felagund 03-11-2004 11:44 PM

6.

Urwen?

rutslegolas 03-12-2004 07:23 AM

7) sam?

Firefoot 03-12-2004 02:32 PM

Nilpaurion - still cold.
rutslegolas - warmer, warmer, hot! Burning hot!

Silmarien 03-12-2004 06:08 PM

7) Bill the Pony?

Firefoot 03-12-2004 06:53 PM

Silmarien - cooler...

Silmarien 03-12-2004 07:53 PM

Are you looking for Samwise?

Finwe 03-13-2004 11:15 AM

7) Gollum

Firefoot 03-13-2004 06:49 PM

Neither of those.

Finwe 03-14-2004 01:55 PM

7) Frodo?

symestreem 03-14-2004 02:04 PM

#6 Brodda?

Miriel 03-14-2004 02:12 PM

7) Fatty Bolger?

Firefoot 03-14-2004 03:58 PM

No.
symestreem - warmer, hot!
Finwe and Miriel - both colder.

#6 - I think I must have been a little confused when I wrote this - I probably should have said "Hurin's kinsman" rather than "Morwen's kinsman". Sorry to everyone - this should clear things up.
#7 - Sam is the closest guess so far. For the cryptic part "turning right", think of sled dogs and horses.

Lindolirian 03-14-2004 04:40 PM

7. Gorlim

I think the command for right for sled dogs is "gee" and Gorlim starts with a "g" and he sorta fits the criteria, so...

6. Could it be Brodda since he married Aerin?

Firefoot 03-14-2004 05:12 PM

Lindoliran - no to both of those, but your reasoning for #7 is on the mark. Now put the clues together...

symestreem 03-14-2004 06:15 PM

#6 Sador?

Arestevana 03-14-2004 06:33 PM

I do believe I see it.
7) Gamgee

The Saucepan Man 03-14-2004 06:36 PM

Aha!

And #6 must be Aerin's father, Indor.

Password, anyone?

Firefoot 03-14-2004 06:59 PM

Arestevana and Saucepan Man have the correct answers! Now for the password...

1. Amon Din: The silent place on which I am.
2. River Running: Water sprinted to the east.
3. Horn Call of Buckland: Hobbits are afraid because their enemies have torches.
4. Weathertop: Atmospheric Conditions on the upside.
5. Indis: Mother of the one with the sharp tongue.
6. Indor: Morwen's kinsman not outside.
7. Gamgee: Faithful companion ends up turning right.

Miriel 03-15-2004 09:49 AM

The eagel Gwaihir?

Firefoot 03-15-2004 05:52 PM

Yes, indeed it is. The puzzle is solved, so go ahead, Miriel.

Miriel 03-16-2004 03:16 PM

Nilpaurion Felagund 03-16-2004 07:48 PM

Some off-target sots from a 16" gun...

6. Silmaril?
9. Cirith Forn en Andrath?

Miriel 03-17-2004 11:14 AM

Araman is right!!! :D *cheers*
All the rest are incorrect.

Voralphion 03-17-2004 05:17 PM
