Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 08:09 AM

I thought this could be one of the possible traps one can fall into. Not a correct answer.

Nerwen 12-07-2007 08:15 AM

In that case I suppose you mean Eldarion.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 08:29 AM

Nay. Still the same trap :)

The Might 12-07-2007 08:52 AM

I believe the trap is about the boat of Legolas and Gimli, who did not set sail from Edhellond, but instead sailed down the Anduin and then over the Sea.

According to the story of Amroth the last ship left in autumn of 1981, and in that time King of Gondor was Eärnil II.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 08:54 AM

Absolutely and totally correct, even the explanation of Legolas' and Gimli's fate as bonus. :)

TM, you may continue.

Shards of Narsil 12-07-2007 08:59 AM

The last ship left the Elf haven of Edhellond in 1981 of the third age with Amroth aboard. He jumped overboard... and we know the rest of the story.

During this time, Earnil II was king in Gondor.

The Might 12-07-2007 09:03 AM

I've been posting to much anyway, so Shards of Narsil, post a new one if you wish. :)

Shards of Narsil 12-07-2007 10:06 AM

Thanks Might. It looks as if we were typing our response at the same time. I'm just a little slow this morning.

Any way, here is my post.

We all know that Cirion and Eorl met at the site of Elendil's tomb and there Cirion gave Calenardon to the Rohirrim and together they took the Oath of Eorl. What did Cirion do at that time that was not done at any other time during the entire Third Age?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 10:09 AM

Call Eru as witness of his oath?

Shards of Narsil 12-07-2007 10:30 AM

Legate, what are you? That took 3 minutes! I was hoping that I could get half a day out of this.

The thread is yours.

Good question... but I am not going to tell you... mwa ha ha... :D

But you'll have chance to post something else if your reply to this:

Whose reign was not much appreciated, and his son left the country as soon as he reached maturity?

Shards of Narsil 12-07-2007 01:46 PM

I believe that would be Fengel. It was his son Thengel who left to live in Gondor due to a disagreement with his father.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-07-2007 02:10 PM

Correct! Your turn.

Shards of Narsil 12-12-2007 08:57 AM

Sorry for the delay. I was away for the weekend, and then couln't come up with much worth putting in. Even now, this one should be pretty easy.

The Argonath marked the northern border of Gondor (at the time of their construction). Each statue had the left hand held palm outward in a "stop, don't go any further" motion.

Who did each statue represent, and what did the right hand of each statue hold?

The Might 12-12-2007 09:03 AM

I believe they represented Isildur and Anarion andthey both held axes in their hands.

Shards of Narsil 12-12-2007 12:25 PM

Might-ee fine answer

Yup. That was easy.

The Might 12-12-2007 12:51 PM

Where was the middle of Gondor (as the Gondorians approximatively decided)?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-12-2007 01:22 PM

I think it was Amon Anwar?

The Might 12-12-2007 04:05 PM

Yes, indeed Halfirien it is.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-12-2007 05:58 PM

The beginning of the attacks of the Easterlings in early 3rd age caused the Gondorians to do one particular thing that did not have anything to do with military or strategy. What was it?

The Might 12-13-2007 08:10 AM

I think they began the tradition of leaving written instructions to be used by the King's heir in case of the King's untimely death.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-13-2007 08:13 AM

Eeexactly. Please continue.

The Might 12-13-2007 08:15 AM

How many White Trees existed in Minas Tirith ?

Nerwen 12-13-2007 05:57 PM

Three

The Might 12-14-2007 07:45 AM

Indeed.

Nerwen 12-14-2007 07:13 PM

Saruman first appeared in Rohan at the coronation of_____?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 02:44 AM

Fréalaf Hildeson!!! (Hooray!) :D

Nerwen 12-15-2007 03:29 AM

Hooray!:D

Over to you.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 04:05 AM

Who(se family) followed the trajectory Belfalas -> Lossarnach -> Rohan?

Nerwen 12-15-2007 04:59 AM

Théoden's? His mother was Morwen of Lossarnach, and I think her family came from Belfalas.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 05:41 AM

Yup, exactly, Morwen and all the folks around her were what I had in mind. You may continue.

Nerwen 12-15-2007 06:33 AM

What occurred at the death of Belecthor II?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 06:42 AM

The White Tree died.

Nerwen 12-15-2007 07:51 AM

That it did.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 08:05 AM

Who dwelt in the tower of Orthanc since the Eorlingas came to Rohan (before Saruman)?

Nerwen 12-15-2007 08:57 AM

No one.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-15-2007 09:05 AM

Cannot fool you ;) Good, please continue.

Nerwen 12-15-2007 06:06 PM

What did the Dunlendings call the Rohirrim?

The Might 12-16-2007 03:57 AM

Forgoil

Nerwen 12-16-2007 05:39 AM

Yep... fairly lame insult, if you ask me.

Over to you.
