Oh guess what your favourite guys back!

Hi, you most hated poster has come back. Hopefully, everyone will treat me with better respect, I hope so, because, you all have been bullying me :(.

Umwë 10-25-2004 09:11 AM

Hated? Why?! :S
I've been away for a while, so I've never seen you around.

Nimrodel_9 10-25-2004 11:19 AM

I wouldn`t know why.
Welcome back to the Downs, Umwë! :D

Umwë 10-25-2004 11:51 AM

Hope seeing ya around in some RPG one day! :)

Oceanic 10-25-2004 01:23 PM

Greetings all.

I came across this site a while ago, but sort of forgot to register. Anyway, came across it again a few days ago and I have been reading some very interesting discussions, especially in the chapter by chapter section.

I've only been into Tolkien for about two years but the depth of the mans imagination and writing style amazes me.

Other interests include vintage scooters, music of most varieties, the seas and oceans - marine life etc, British comedy and possibly some other things that escape me at the moment.

I look forward to my stay here. :)

turgon 10-25-2004 01:29 PM

hello

welcome Oceanic I think you'll find this site as good as I have :D There are some profoundly good thoughts from some of JRRT's fans here.

Encaitare 10-25-2004 03:24 PM

Welcome Umwe and Oceanic! Hope you two enjoy the forums. :)

Boromir88 10-25-2004 04:43 PM

Oceanic, it's good to see, what's it called, "new blood." Welcome, hope to see some of your views in the days to come :) .

rutslegolas 10-26-2004 05:56 AM

Welcome both Umwe and Oceanic.

Hope you rise to be Animated Skeleton .... Haunting Spirit ...... and so on .

Umwë 10-26-2004 07:10 AM

Thank you all for the warm welcoming!
As long as I've been here now, I consider this as the best RPG-site ever.

Regards,

(reposted)

Good day. I am unfamiliar with most of the Lord of the Rings books, however I have them all, I just don't have the time. I have seen all the movies, but as of yet, have not been able to afford the third episode.

I hope to learn more about the background of The Lord of the Rings by reading this forum.

I am new at role playing on forums as well. But I hope that I will be accepted nonetheless.

~Thank you.

elronds_daughter 10-28-2004 08:35 AM

Welcome, Lord of Chaos! Have no fears, you'll be accepted.

Welcome, also, to Oceanic, and anyone else I may have missed.

Cheers!
Elrond's (other) daughter

The Lord of Chaos 10-28-2004 08:53 AM

Thank you for welcoming me. I hope to be a more active member soon. As of yet, I am very busy.

Boromir88 10-28-2004 11:08 AM

Welcome to the BD, Chaos. I never really cared much for Role Playing until I saw this site, the RP forums are just great.

Also, there is a movies forum for those who haven't read the books yet. I encourage that you do whenever you have the time :) . It's just nice having you, welcome!

The Lord of Chaos 10-28-2004 02:27 PM

Well, you're quite pleasent. Thank you.

The Lord of Chaos 10-28-2004 03:19 PM

Question: are members allowed to use an image in their signature?

Estelyn Telcontar 10-28-2004 03:25 PM

Sorry, no images in signatures - since avatar pictures are allowed, the signatures are limited to text (which may include links).

The Lord of Chaos 10-28-2004 03:28 PM

Thank you for letting me know, I will not attempt what would be the 56th time of trying to fix my image for my signature.

Encaitare 10-28-2004 06:02 PM

Hi, and welcome, Chaos. :)

turgon 10-28-2004 08:07 PM

hi

if you love the movies the books will crush you. which ever order you read them JRRT's literary and imaginary genious is equivalent to einsteins quirkiness.
(if you understand what that means let me know cause I don't)

The Lord of Chaos 10-29-2004 06:42 AM

Good word for Sniglets If you ever read those, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Nuindacilien 10-31-2004 12:47 PM

I'm back!

Hello all. I haven't been here in about two months, but I'm back. I don't k now how much I'll be able to hang around, but I'll try to come more often. I even figured out how to use my avatar!
Actually, most of you probably don't remember me anyway. :p
Anyway, I'm off to lurk some more...

~Nuindacilien

Galadel Vinorel 10-31-2004 10:16 PM

All Hail The Conquering Hero!

Galadel here...returning to Barrowdows at last! YEAH!! Finally I am able to find a break in my busy schedule of school, etc. to visit this beautiful place. It feels great to be back after so long. The place looks a little different, but still has the same homey feel about it, which is why I LOVE this web site.

WELCOME! to all newcomers to this site. Hope that you enjoy being dead! :D

baragund 11-01-2004 04:06 PM

Hello out there in TV Land!!

I have been a Tolkien fan for over 25 years. My interest has come and gone in cycles over the years but has remained pretty constant since the movies came out.

I have been a pretty active member of TTF (The Tolkien Forum) for the past year and a half. Several TTF people also belong to this community and they alway speak highly of it, so I decided to drop by for a visit.

I'm also hoping to run into my old friend Maedhros. He was a mentor of mine and a fellow Scholar.

Boromir88 11-01-2004 04:10 PM

Welcome back to the bd Galadel and Nuin.

And welcome to our newest member baragund. Hope you all enjoy the bd, and hope to see some of your views on certain Tolkien issues ;) .

Encaitare 11-01-2004 09:18 PM

Welcome back, Nuin and Galadel!

And welcome, baragund! Maedhros is still here, although it seems he mainly haunts the "Translations from the Elvish" forum .. said forum quite frankly scares me a bit. :p

baragund 11-02-2004 08:54 AM

Thank you Boromir and Encaitare for the welcome :) It looks like this forum is even bigger than TTF. It's going to take a while to browse around and see what's here.

Looking forward to bumping into you around the neighborhood!

King of the North 11-03-2004 08:03 PM

I'm a life long lover of all of Tolkien's works and have been visiting the Barrow-Downs for some time. Just recently I discovered this forum and jumped at the oppurtunity to join it. Already it has surpassed my expectations. I am extremely pleased and honored to be amongst devote fans of Tolkien who are knowledgeable of his works to the utmost extent.

elronds_daughter 11-03-2004 08:25 PM

Welcome, King of the North. Just how long is "life long"? ;) Welcome, also, to baragund and everyone else whom I may have missed.

Cheers!

Boromir88 11-04-2004 05:29 AM

elronds_daughter 11-05-2004 05:49 PM

Welcome, slivernight! I hope you enjoy death in its various stages. Many a 'Downer has come to love being dead, I'll attest to that.

Cheers!

turgon 11-05-2004 08:47 PM

The Lord of Chaos 11-05-2004 10:10 PM

Welcome to The Barrow Downs forum Silvernight. This forum is a friendly place, and I wish their kindness upon you, and you can hope for mine as well.

Have fun here. I hope you can get a better idea of RPing than I can. Good luck!

Lhunithiliel 11-06-2004 04:24 AM

Hi, all! :)

I have just registered in the BD, although I have been browsing through its threads for quite some time. Besides, I have met some of the BD's members elsewhere and I am now glad we will be able to possibly meet here as well.

I have to say that I am strongly impressed by the knowledge and the in-depth-understanding of Tolkien and his works that I find here!
I have been studying Tolkien for almost three years now but I still consider myself just a student, and as such I have a lot of questions, that, I hope, I shall be able to find the answers to here. So ... bear with me! :o
For ... sometimes I'm just being provocative, hoping that to look upon an issue from the "opposite corner", helps for the better understanding.

Happy to meet you all! :)

Lhunithiliel
(...which name I once got through the BD name generator... )

Boromir88 11-06-2004 08:37 AM

Pleased to have you here at the downs Lhunithiliel. No matter how long one studies Tolkien, there is always more to find out, that's what I like about it ;) . I hope to see some of your questions soon :) .

Lhunithiliel 11-06-2004 10:45 AM

Thank you kindly, Boromir88 (so many Boromirs! :D )

I shall certainly soon find some courage to post a question or two of mine.

* * *

A question... though I appologize if this is not the place to ask:
How to change the "sub-name" under my forum-name? This "newly deceased" ... hmmm... doesn't appeal to me. ;)

Estelyn Telcontar 11-06-2004 11:06 AM

Lhunithiliel, welcome to the Downs! Your question and many others are answered on the Barrow-Downs FAQ thread, located at the top of the Novices and Newcomers forum main page. :)

Lhunithiliel 11-06-2004 11:08 AM

Thank you Lady from the Royal lineage of the Telcontar! :)
