mormegil 08-17-2005 12:19 AM

Then his wrath blazed in consuming flame, but his fear rose like a vast black smoke to choke him. For he knew his deadly peril and the thread upon which his doom now hung.
Nobody said it, rather these are the words written about Sauron when Frodo put on the rind inside Mt Doom.

Firefoot 08-17-2005 07:28 AM

Correct, of course. :)

/-/----/----/-/----/--/--;/---/-/------/---/----./---/-----/-/--/-------/----/-----./-------/--,/---/--/-----/----/---/-------/---/--/----/----./

Firefoot 08-17-2005 01:25 PM

A's?

Folwren 08-17-2005 01:58 PM

Is it legal (and I've never seen it done so I am actually assuming that it is not) to ask for all the vowels at once?

If not, just give me plain ol' E's.

Guinevere 08-17-2005 02:10 PM

D's please

mormegil 08-17-2005 02:12 PM

AED

/-/--e-/--a-/-/----/d-/--;/---/-/-ea-ed/--e/-a--./---/----d/-/--/-------/----/-ea-e./------e/-e,/a-d/--/---de/--a-/-a-/-------/---/--/----/d---./

Folwren I don't believe it's legal. Plus I think it would move too quickly. Though I have considered asking myself in the past.

Edit added D

Firefoot 08-17-2005 02:37 PM

N's?

Guinevere 08-17-2005 02:45 PM

and S's please

Guinevere 08-17-2005 03:06 PM

I don't need the S's after all. Something has just rung a bell .... :)

Quote:

"I knew that I must do so; but I feared the pain. Nor could I go without your leave. Forgive me, and my pride that has brought you to this doom."
Isildur to Elendur at the Disaster of the Gladden fields

mormegil 08-17-2005 04:29 PM

I don't know how you do it but it's correct.

Guinevere 08-18-2005 01:48 PM

'Tis just speculation. ;)
/-/ must be "I" if it isn't "a". and d- had to be "do" , so the word in between had to be an auxiliary verb like "must" or "will" - then I just tried out possible words..."I knew that I must do (it or so)" "but I feared the -a-- (dark? pain?) " and then it made suddenly "click"

Or course it only works with quotes that for some reason touch me and therefore stay in my mind. As I once said to Firefoot, this game is so enjoyable because it gives us an opportunity to share with others the words that we love! :)

Anyway, here is a new one for you to ponder over:

Beautiful words.

[Sam: ]Though here at journey's end I lie
in darkness buried deep,
beyond all towers strong and high,
beyond all mountains steep,
above all shadows rides the Sun
and Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
nor bid the Stars farewell.
