The answer depends on how loosely you define 'canon'. According to this forum, the world's tallest hobbit is Lindolirian, but if you want to be boring and insist on sticking to the books, Merry and Pippin were the tallest. I don't think Tolkien says which of them had the most inches.

Well I was looking for Merry (I assumed he'd be taller since he was always taller than Pippin originally) so the Squatter of Amon Rudh can go.
