Firefoot 06-04-2004 03:55 PM

Originally, it was Enerdhil, but seemingly Tolkien intended to change this to Celebrimbor.

Lindolirian 06-05-2004 03:21 PM

Correct!

3. Where was the Elendilmir found after the War of the Ring?

Firefoot 06-05-2004 06:22 PM

In Orthanc, I believe in a locked closet.

Lindolirian 06-06-2004 01:25 PM

Sure was!

4. What two different gems did two different dwarf lords treasure above a mountain of gold?

Fingolfin II 06-07-2004 01:26 AM

The Dwarves of the Blue Mountains treasured the Nauglamir and/or the Silmaril set in it above gold, and Thorin treasured the Arkenstone above a mountain of gold? Not sure about the first one though.

Lindolirian 06-07-2004 12:13 PM

I'm not too sure about the first one either. Try again. :)
It is close though...

Gil-Galad 06-07-2004 03:27 PM

the Silmaril which was on a "mountain" of gold in the treasury of doriath, and that arkenstone

Lindolirian 06-07-2004 04:04 PM

No, you're thinking too cryptically. It's put rather plainly that this certain dwarf lord prized it above a mountain of wealth.
BTW, the Arkenstone is correct...

Tulkas the Mighty 06-07-2004 11:55 PM

Could it be Gimli and Aglarond?

NightKnight 06-08-2004 12:52 AM

Mîm and his son, Khim?

Lindolirian 06-08-2004 08:23 AM

No, and no. Think richer dwarves.
HINT: This thing was given to the dwarf lord by Cirdan...;)

Firefoot 06-11-2004 12:02 PM

Nimphelos was prized by the chieftain of the Dwarves of Belegost.
(And the Arkenstone...)

Lindolirian 06-13-2004 09:50 AM

Correct!

5. What river had a "precious" riverbed?

Firefoot 06-13-2004 11:24 AM

The River Ascar, which was renamed Rathlóriel, the Goldenbed, because the treasure of Doriath was drowned there.

Lindolirian 06-13-2004 05:37 PM

Right on!

6. What significance did a necklace of dragon teeth hold for the son of Frumgar?

NightKnight 06-13-2004 05:52 PM

It was made from the teeth of the dragon Scatha that he (Fram) slew.

Lindolirian 06-13-2004 05:54 PM

Very good! This game was about to become a little one sided...

7. What was known as the combination of both the greatest works of Elves and Dwarves?

NightKnight 06-13-2004 05:55 PM

The Nauglamir with one of Fëanor's Silmarils in it.

Lindolirian 06-13-2004 06:03 PM

Right you are! Now I've gotta start thinking of questions. I'm running out in this category. ( Without touching Silmarils or Rings that is...)

8. What assured Aragorn that that it was safe to pass the Hoarwell, and who left this token?

Firefoot 06-13-2004 06:06 PM

A beryl jewel, left by one of the Elves of Rivendell, possibly Glorfindel.

Lindolirian 06-13-2004 06:11 PM

Correct! NightKnight must get two in order to tie Firefoot, or else its all over...

wilwarin538 06-28-2004 04:28 PM

gilgalad told him and cirdan and elrond stood by gilgalad

NightKnight 06-28-2004 04:30 PM

If it wasn't Elrond, then it must have been Cirdan.

Firefoot 06-28-2004 08:10 PM

um, Cirdan and Elrond?

The Perky Ent 06-28-2004 08:15 PM

um, Gil-Galad ;) and Elrond? Congrats on the thousand. I was on it a little while ago. It's fun, ain't it. But, if you post frequently in Fun and Games, it isn't that hard ;)

NightKnight 06-28-2004 08:18 PM

Why do people keep guessing Gil-Galad? He was dead at that time.

The Perky Ent 06-28-2004 08:23 PM

Ok, sorry. Um...but all of the combinations besides him are out!

Firefoot 06-28-2004 08:29 PM

I for one, based my original guess off this sentence: "He [Isildur] alone stood by his father in that last mortal contest; and by Gil-galad only Cirdan stood, and I. But Isildur would not listen to our counsel." Though, if I had thought it through, you are right, Gil-Galad was dead.

Gil-Galad 06-28-2004 08:34 PM

Firefoot has it!

2. Name one of the original races in Beleriand that in the end, turned too serve a higher master

The Perky Ent 06-28-2004 08:39 PM

Man, I'm going for a real longshot, but I think it can work. Hopefully there's more than one right answer. But, is the answer, ents?

Gil-Galad 06-28-2004 08:42 PM

no...it didn't say that the ents headed to arda...oh dear i've said too much

The Perky Ent 06-28-2004 08:43 PM

umm...elves? You know your asking for race, not division, right?

Gil-Galad 06-28-2004 08:44 PM

yes...its not elves either

Firefoot 06-28-2004 08:45 PM

oh, never mind... the Dwarves?

Gil-Galad 06-28-2004 08:46 PM

keyword, not elves
