Welcome newcomers! Enjoy your posting!

Gelmir 08-02-2004 11:17 AM

Hi, I'm Gelmir, well, I have no arms, no legs, and no head.

Sirithheruwen 08-02-2004 11:21 AM

I was gone on vacation for a month and now I'm back. My, how everything has changed! New members, new threads, new posts. I suppose I was just naively (sp?) imagining that time would stop here at the Downs and I would come back to it exactly as I left it.

Wow, it's good to be back...

Gil-Galad 08-02-2004 11:46 AM

welcome back and welcome to the downs Gelmir!

The Perky Ent 08-02-2004 12:15 PM

Welcome back Sirithheruwen!

Welcome! Witch-King

Don't worry, Ohtatyaro. I think we all get past the newbie stage amazingly fast....some of use didn't even wait a week after being welcomed before they started being a welcomer *whistles nochalantly....*

I'm sure you'll post exceedingly well, Witchking, even if you have completely overwhelmed us with your loquaciousness here. ;) Kidding, kidding...no, seriously, posts should be written wisely which I think you will do. Unlike me... So welcome to the Downs, have fun being dead, enjoy the conversations you'll get into and show the utmost respect to our beloved mods. We all have great fun here, and if you need any help, we're almost all friendly, and you can PM me if you want to ask any questions. Or anybody else, for that matter. :)

Oh, and read the FAQ before. It may help. That goes to everyone...

Cheers,

~ Elentari II

yes. yes, yet another noob.

I usually go to tolkienonline.com, and have recently joined with entmoot as well, but am still serching for more. I'm sure that this site will be just as good as the others.

Hope you all won't mind a girl who's looking for help in keeping her devoution to Tolkien books and not totally fall into Rowling fandom.

See you around the boards!

Gil-Galad 08-02-2004 05:48 PM

welcome and have alot of fun here!!!

Gelmir 08-03-2004 07:16 AM

question

Yes yes, we hope you do, do we?

Witch-King 08-03-2004 02:25 PM

*Flies in on his dragon, screeching like a banshee*

Welcome, DoN.

Arie 08-03-2004 04:24 PM

I'm not exactly a new member as you all can see -- but I haven't been on the Downs for the longest time and I feel like a newbie. Certainly many things have changed since the mentioned 'renovation' of the forum and I'd just like to say hi to those active members who have been posting.

Gil-Galad 08-03-2004 05:02 PM

*kills the witch-kings "dragon" cause its not suppose to be there and gives him a Fell Beast*

Witch-King 08-04-2004 12:46 AM

*Stabs Gil-Galad with his poisoned daggar*

"Oh whatever. Now, get out of THAT, if you can..."

ohtatyaro 08-04-2004 01:20 AM

Now pick after yourselves, fellaz :D We don't need rotting dragon-corpses lying around, do we? :):)

Gil-Galad 08-04-2004 02:44 PM

*starts laughing cause he's already dead*

Mattius 08-04-2004 04:23 PM

I'm not new to site but my ghostly spectre hasn't haunted this part of cyberspace for a good six months or so! The layout has changed quite dramatically but its all for the best. How you all doing?

shia'tan 08-04-2004 04:39 PM

Greetings, as required by the title, introduction as a new member.

Vlakorados 08-07-2004 01:47 AM

Hi, I'm known (to you people) as Vlakorados. Well, there's not much for me to talk about for now.

I suppose I should tell you that Saraphim is my sister. Everyone laugh at how she spelled her name wrong. *laughs*

Saraphim 08-07-2004 02:01 AM

'Tis true, alas, that I have a younger brother. *sigh* I welcome you to the Downs, and hope that you don't do anything to tarnish my reputation.

It's already mirky enough as it is.

don't worry, Saraphim. they happen to the best of us. may i ask what the age difference is? there are four years between me and my younger twin brothers.

anyway, what was i doing originally? oh, yes...*ahem* welcome to the downs, Vlakorados and shia'tan. and welcome back, Mattius.

Cheers!

Elrond's (other) daughter

ninlaith 08-07-2004 10:33 AM

I detect a little sibling rivalry! Welcome to the Barrowdowns all.

Saraphim 08-07-2004 11:50 AM

Well, elronds_daughter, there are three years between my brother and myself. I've tried to keep him off of the Downs for as long as I've been on, but I suppose it was only a matter of time until he caught on and joined up.

What he supposes to do, I'm not sure. I'm starting to be afraid, given his track record out here.

Just don't act like an idiot, Vlaky, and you'll be fine. :D

Gelmir 08-09-2004 09:33 AM

Heh heh Lol

Oh, goody, a pair siblings getting along (note the sarcasm), I suppose you are 16 or above? Other wise your bro would be on! :)

The riders of Rohaan 08-10-2004 01:02 AM

Hi

Hello I am new and I am Sleepy rangers good friend. We are neighbours and I also know a bit about saucepan man as he keeps talking about him. I know a lot about hobbits cause hobbits rule.

elronds_daughter 08-10-2004 06:48 AM

Welcome, The riders of Rohan! I'm curious.... are you, by any chance, skizophrenic? Your name seems to imply that there are more than one of you...;) Anyway, I hope you enjoy being dead. Most of the rest of us have found no problem with it so far, except that we tend to alarm our non-dead friends.
And Hobbits do indeed rule.;):D

Cheers!

Elrond's (other) daughter

Nuindacilien 08-10-2004 11:03 AM

I'm back!

I've been busy with other stuff, so I haven't had too much time to visit the Downs. I see we have some new members here. I'm still quite new myself, but welcome anyway!
I'm pretty lucky in the sibling area. My sister (who is a year younger than me) can't stand anything to do with LOTR, so she definitely won't be bothering me here. :D
Adieu for now.

~Nuinda

Amanaduial the archer 08-11-2004 10:18 AM

Ah, well, my younger sister is yet to read Tolkien (funny how over a thousand pages of very small type in a book the size of the yellow pages can put one off...), and my older sister doesn't have much interest in computers or the internet, and wouldn't touch forums with a barge pole - to which of course, you could reply 'whose got a barge pole?!' ;)

Riders of Rohaan - ah, a hobbit man! ;) So The Saucepan Man has a fan? Interesting... Welcome.

Vlakorados - ooh, this could be interesting...*evil* And hey, I like her name - your sister's an excellent writer and RPGer, by the way - don't suppose it run's the family...? I mean, you know, if you wanted to drop by The Shire and try it out...*shamelessly plugging the RPG forums*

Shia'tan - lol, an interesting self-description! Hmm, I wouldn't bother coming to Merry Olde England really...the weather is up and down like nobody's bsuiness at the moment. You like rain, right? ;) No, sorry, sorry...welcome to the Downs.

Mattius - *mouth drops open* Good lord, the dead are rising! Mattius, welcome back, how are you? Ooh, excellent, 'tis all well... Welcome back, my friend, welcome back!

Arie - welcome back to you as well - like Mattius said, 'it's all for the best'. You'll get used to it again - welcome back.

Oh, I wish there wasn't a smiley limit on each post...

Lhundulinwen 08-11-2004 07:01 PM

Hello everybody, and welcome to all the newbies (and welcome back all y'all other peoples)! Especially-The riders of Rohaan and Vlakorados! Sibling rivalry... I wonder how many siblings we actually happen to have on here? Anyways, I'm back, and I hope everyone had a safe summer so far!

Namo Mandos 08-11-2004 10:13 PM

Greetings

Greetings fellow Tolkien fans, I have been looking around the Barrow Downs now for some weeks and finally decided to join.

I have been reading Tolkien’s works for around 20 years now and in that time I have built up a nice collection of books based on Middle Earth. I have an extensive library starting with my favourites the Sil, hobbit, LOTR, HoMe; I also have many books written by other authors on Tolkien works. I hope that over time I can share my love of Tolkien with you all.

Child of the 7th Age 08-11-2004 10:17 PM

Hi, Namo Mandos! Welcome to the Downs. With a name and avatar like that, you fit in perfectly.

I'm also a long time book collector. The stuff sure piles up over the years!

Come down and introduce yourself in character at the Green Dragon Inn in the Shire. We'd love to see you.

~Child

Thanks child of the 7th age, the avatar is actually an illusion; can you see the other image?

you can see the large image here

do you see a couple or a skull? Have a look at the large version of the picture the link is above.

Thorongil 08-13-2004 05:58 AM

Isilmė 08-13-2004 07:34 AM

Hiya!

Hiya everyone!
I am new around, and I just love RPG.
I hope to see your characters in any RPG thread around here.

Best wishes,

Isilmė

Lhunardawen 08-14-2004 10:44 PM

Welcome to the Downs, Isilmė! You can start RPGing by entering the Green Dragon in the Shire RPG. Enjoy being dead! :)

Arien 08-22-2004 09:11 AM

Hmmm, I'm not new, but also back after a lengthy absence. Its all changed, people have left, some have stayed and theres lots of new people. But I'm now back in a RPG and it feels great to be back...

Arien

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-25-2004 09:28 AM

Welcome back, Arien. I hope your lengthy absence wasn't because something bad happened. If so, I'm sorry; if not, what took you?

Fea

Arien 08-25-2004 10:34 AM

No not terrible at all, just time consuming. A little thing called GCSE's...

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-25-2004 07:55 PM

G....C...S....E...s. Forgive me, but I've just drawn a complete and total blank, even though I'm sure I should know this. Glad to here nothing wrong's happened though.

Fea
