"Cloven Vale"
or perhaps Imladris? |
nope
|
huh?
But.....but....Karningul is the Westron name for Rivendell/Imladris, meaning a deeply-cut, steep sided valley.
Or is there some other name for Rivendell that you are looking for? The Last Homely House? |
...Or the First Homely House, or the House of Elrond....
|
Looing at the enclyclopedia of Arda aren't ya?
anyways its First Homely House... |
Actually, I wasn't - I happen to be a fan of Imladris.
Russandol |
Red-headed brat...
er, that, I suspect, *glances above* was probably his mother's nickname for him...
Better known as Maedhros. |
Absolutely. Your question
|
Yôzâyan .
:smokin: |
Númenor?
|
Indeed. Goodness you people are sharp. :D
|
Thanks!
Rochon Methestel.
|
Well, Rochon Methestel is a song remembering Borondir in specific and the Battle of Celebrant in general, but I'm not sure that Borondir is Rochon Methestel. It translates to "rider of the last hope".
|
Oh.
I always thought he was the Rider of Last Hope.
Take the thread, anyway. :) |
Perhaps he was. I'd never have figured it out without my handy dandy copy of Hisweloke's dictionary. I must go now and prepare something sufficiently nasty.
Eureka, I have found it: Uilos. |
Nasty indeed, Sophia. Uilos is the Sindarin form of Oiolosse, which is Taniquetil.
|
Ah, but it also means something else. See if you can find it now... ;)
|
Cruel and nasty, we shall be. As the name may have only referred to the summit, the answer may be as simple as Ilmarin, which are the halls built upon the summit.
However, considering 'Oiolosse' was simply the most common name used, there are also Amon Uilos, Mount Everwhite, the White Mountain, the Holy Mountain, Elerrina, the Hill of Ilmarin, and the Mountain to choose from. :D Fea [has handy dandy references] |
Perhaps I'm nastier than I should be.
There is still another meaning. One I might add (if I wanted to give you a clue) which has personal significance to me. And nothing to do with Oiolosse Sophia |
Uilos, also know as alfirin or simbelmyne. A pretty white flower :)
That what you were looking for? I believe that Amon Uilos was named for these flowers that adorned it. |
There it is!
Sorry, Fea, but Celebriel has it.
*Points at her pt, snickers at her own audacity* Hence personal significance... it was simbelmyne. :smokin: |
Well, I don't have my books with me right now, so here goes from memory:
Ilverin |
Littleheart, son of Bronweg?
|
nicely done
:claps:
Well done. your turn :) |
Thank you!
Belaurin
|
Ummmmmm . . .
Anyone? Anybody at all?
|
Palurien?
|
I'll take that!
And in exchange, I give you the thread! :)
|
Thanks Nilp.
Coimas |
