Guinevere 06-18-2003 01:58 PM

You keep guessing 2 persons at a time....
Well, Orofaniel, one of your guesses was right: it was Gimli , but I would like to hear about what he is talking and to whom!

He said it in the Fargorn forest. He was talking to Gandalf(Legolas and Aragorn) about him fighting the Balrog far under the living earth.

And I will stop guessing two people at a time, bad habbit.....

Guinevere 06-18-2003 02:29 PM

Correct, Orofaniel!
(Well, to be even more exact: Gimli was talking about the Endless Stair which Gandalf had mentioned in his account.)
Anyway, it is your turn!

Orofaniel 06-18-2003 02:33 PM

Maylin 06-25-2003 07:53 PM

Orofaniel 06-26-2003 07:06 AM

HINT:It's not a human who said it.

Narduewen 06-26-2003 08:22 AM

I thought someone would guess Gandalf soon! It's not correct, though....

And it isn't Strider at Isengard either.....

I think you should just keep on guessing!

Unfortunately it isn't!
Your last hint made me think it might be in the chapter "Flotsam & Jetsam" , but I couldn't find it ... I've no idea, so I'm just guessing, too: Was it perhaps Gimli?

Elentári 06-30-2003 12:05 PM

no, it sure isnt...

ummm... Gollum?

Orofaniel 06-30-2003 02:52 PM

Nope, sorry.....It isn't Gimli or Gollum......

Really, I didn't think this would be so difficult!

Pippin (this http://forum.barrowdowns.com/ubb/icons/icon13.gif , my friend is a pint!) or Merry! ( http://forum.barrowdowns.com/ubb/icons/icon9.gif isn´t that self explanitory?)

Orofaniel 07-01-2003 06:04 AM

Finally, someone got it! Pippin is correct!!!!!!!!!! Please proceed!

Edit: I always think of Hobbits when I see a pint and a pipe. I hoped that someone would figure it out too. At last someone did!

Orofaniel, would you please tell us where exactly this quote is?? I mean where says Pippin this to whom ? I've been looking for this (in vain) such a long time, I really would like to know!

Orofaniel 07-01-2003 06:50 AM

Yeah, you see I've got a small problem....*blush*

I lost the page, since it's been quite some time. But of course I'll try and find it, and when I do I'll let you know! Since I'm leaving today, coming back at Saturday, it may take a while....sorry

Oro

Edit: sorry again..

Edit 2: Since it was Pippin who said it it has to be in TTT book one. I'll be skimming it and try to find it. Once more; Sorry

Yes, I have found it at last. It is in TTT, Flotsam and Jetsam. Pippin and Merry have finally met the company again,( after meeting Treberad) and they are telling thair tale.

Here is something before the quote and after the quote:
Quote:

"The cutting of the bands on your wrists, that was smart work!" said Gimli. " Luck served you there; but you seized your chance with both hands, one might say"
"And set us a pretty riddle," said legolas. "I wonder if you had grown wings!"
"Unfortunatly not," said Pippin."But you did not know about Grishnákh." He shuddered and said no more, leaving Merry to tell of those last horrible moments: the pawing hands, the hot breath, and the dreadful strenght of Grishnákh's hairy arms. "All this about the Orcs of Barad-dûr, Lugbúrz as thay call it, makes me uneasy," siad Aragorn.

Quote:

Unfortunately not
So pippin said it to Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn in TTT, Flotsam and Jetsam.

Or maybe Theoden to the leader of the wild-men?

gilraën 07-10-2003 11:39 AM

Treebeard, the Entwives and the Ents all say it?

Manardariel 07-11-2003 01:00 PM

Correct, GILRAEN!

Sorry it took me so long.....

gilraën 07-11-2003 05:14 PM
