Rimbaud 11-27-2004 11:53 AM

Either a nasty battle, or the Beleriand Santa's present-bag, The Sack of Nargothrond, I believe.

Firefoot 11-27-2004 12:20 PM

Aye, that it is.

Rimbaud 11-28-2004 05:08 AM

As the lecher spied the fair maid, quoth he:

Arr, dig Sandy!

Rimbaud 12-03-2004 05:01 AM

Like freshly-baked bread, this rises to the top of the tin

It ain't hard, quizzers.

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-06-2004 09:45 PM

A clue, Master Punster.

I've been trying a lot of word combinations: Dagnir something, Day something, Dry something, Dain something, something Ring, something Arda . . . but none would yield an answer.

Rimbaud 12-07-2004 05:47 AM

My fault

It is hard. Particularly when you are not given the toosl you need. As in, I have missed out an 'e'. Oh shush, it happens to the best of us.

So the new clue is 'Dig Andy's rear', or 'Dig Randy's ear', whichever you prefer. ;)

Apologies for the missed 'e'.

Fingolfin II 12-07-2004 04:38 PM

Ah! Could it be Daisy Gardner?

Rimbaud 12-08-2004 06:27 AM

Indeed, the floor is yours!

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-09-2004 09:50 PM

*poke*

Fin2, new puzzle needed! :smokin:

Fingolfin II 12-10-2004 05:11 AM

*Jerks out of daydream about Eowyn*

Try this:

I....I...nude lids?

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-10-2004 11:09 PM

Fin2, I think you're still daydreaming.

Your puzzle doesn't have the letter "R"!

I read in a recently published article that 100% of those who daydream about Éowyn get horribly mangled by a certain Faramir. :smokin:

But of course, you don't care. You can take him on. ;)

Fingolfin II 12-10-2004 11:43 PM

*Hits self (hard)*

I think you're right, Nil....on both counts....:(

I'll leave the first one up just in case anyone wants to solve it for fun (yeah right).

Bag Mir? Lor', u goth!
(Mixture of German, English and Random ;))

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-12-2004 09:51 PM

Fingolfin, Fingolfin, Fingolfin . . .

Have you read the rules? ;)

Morgoth Bauglir does not start with an R, which was the last letter of the previous puzzle. :p

Fingolfin II 12-12-2004 09:55 PM

I thought I did....but then I looked back just then and saw I hadn't read them properly. Sorry about that. I tried to PM you because I saw you were replying to the thread, but it didn't get to you. My mistake . Nil, please continue this thread with something starting with the letter 'R' from Rimbaud's previous puzzle. Thanks.

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-12-2004 10:12 PM

Wow? Really?

This is the best gift anyone has ever given me--well, except that humongous Lego set.

And in time for the holidays, too!

Have you read The Daily Dale? The headline says:

Ghost Bard want ear.

I think Bard's just jealous of Helm's haunting.

EDITED. An extra letter.

luthien-elvenprincess 12-13-2004 07:56 AM

Radagast the Brown

Nilpaurion Felagund 12-13-2004 09:01 PM

'tis that.

The next puzzle is thine, luthien-elvenprincess. :)

luthien-elvenprincess 12-14-2004 05:10 AM

Thanks Nil-boy :)

After a painful bunionectomy, SHE LIMP ON...

Rimbaud 12-14-2004 05:24 AM

I believe it was...

...the great pearl named Nimphelos.

luthien-elvenprincess 12-15-2004 04:25 AM

And a golden star is awarded to Rimbaud :)

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-03-2005 09:46 PM

Rimsky,

(or Fluffy-Buns http://www.geocities.com/louis_martian/smilies/evil.gif)

New puzzle needed! :smokin:

Rimbaud 01-10-2005 06:50 AM

When one of the Twelve cooked a lovely meal, the others exclaimed, all Mockney-like:

See, Magi was gem!

Fingolfin II 01-10-2005 04:22 PM

Samwise Gamgee?

Rimbaud 01-11-2005 03:56 AM

Of course, and the floor is yours.

Fingolfin II 01-11-2005 04:23 AM

Cheers,

Below- what one rodent said to another on the topic of romance:

Rat A: I rue luv

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-12-2005 06:32 PM

And the answer would be

Eru Ilúvatar.

Fingolfin II 01-12-2005 09:35 PM

And that would be.....

Correct :).

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-13-2005 09:58 PM

Danke!

I found this manuscript somewhere in the English Channel.
'Of course, it is likely enough, my friends,' he said slowly, 'likely enough that we are going out to our doom: the last

March o' Mares.

Fingolfin II 01-13-2005 11:38 PM

The great wall of Ch-...I mean...Gondor; Rammas Echor. :)

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-13-2005 11:49 PM

Correct!

I just wonder: could Rammas Echor be seen by Tilion?

Fingolfin II 01-14-2005 04:00 AM

Hmm......it may possibly be visible to Arien or Tilion. Or it may not .

Unfortunately, the Gaffer has a strong sailors' accent and has to clarify what he's singing about- 'I sing th' warr!'.

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-16-2005 07:07 PM

I believe . . .

. . . he got the accent from talking to Ringwraiths. ;)

Fingolfin II 01-16-2005 07:48 PM

Aye, that he did.

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-16-2005 08:23 PM

Like, thanks!

A word of warning to those who enter the underwater forest of Taur-nu-fuin:

D bark and crabs c you.

Fingolfin II 01-16-2005 09:43 PM

Doesn't sound like a place Saradoc Brandybuck would be keen on entering. His son on the other hand.....

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-17-2005 12:35 AM

Of course.

And, you have said, that beer-and-pipeweed-besotted son of his would.

Present the next puzzle.

Nilpaurion Felagund 01-21-2005 12:07 AM

*poke*

Poken thee I have, O Fingolfin II. Presentest thou thy next puzzle, or I will bear thee away to some place where all they play is elevator music.

Fingolfin II 01-21-2005 02:10 AM

No- not Valinor!

Anyway.....

What Sandyman can do after he retires-

Laying skin.

Too easy :smokin:.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 01-21-2005 02:35 AM

What vile acts you suspect of poor old Lotho!

Don't think even Sandyman's sunk this low, although the Noldor have...

Kinslaying

Fingolfin II 01-21-2005 02:52 AM

Yep :).
