And nobody has even tried to bribe me yet.

the phantom 04-14-2013 04:16 PM

No one has attempted to bribe me, either.

Perhaps they know we're far too principled to respond to such things.

*clears throat* Though I suppose, it... wouldn't be wrong to just maybe have a look and see what bribes would be offered if I was one to be bribed. Which I'm not, of course. *cough*

Aganzir 04-14-2013 04:17 PM

I only offer things to those who are willing to be bribed.

Although there's an old dream I suppose I haven't told phantom about yet...

;)

But that's actually true, now that I think about it, I am genuinely puzzled. I understand I even sort of dismissed the possibility of bribing me, but how comes nobody tried to bribe the phantom? Granted, it is like trying to bribe Robespierre, only... never mind.

How boring. But hey, at least something happens.

Aganzir 04-14-2013 04:25 PM

Yay! Great game. :)

Can't remember it's ever been so nerve-wracking before.

the phantom 04-14-2013 04:26 PM

It shows how well we know one another (or how well trained we are?), that when Maria says "dream" I immediately experience a shift in hormone levels....

And yes, the incorruptible indeed. For I am far more likely to be the corrupter.

I think it has to do with the number of people being present. Two and two is not a good combination. Though I don't think it so nerve-wracking, but then again, neither of those was a favourite I was trying to save.

And ph, I think you mean "Aganzir" ;)

Haha, in most cases it's appropriate.

I'll leave the dream till another time, then. If there ever is one, I mean.

Galadriel55 04-14-2013 04:31 PM

No I'm going to go and actually read what the lot of you were talking about for three pages...

Aganzir 04-14-2013 04:32 PM

Hahaha, was it three pages? :D

I particularly recommend page 10. It's highly interesting, there's so much happening.

Kristen Stewart, sewing, and Phantom giving me money. No, really.

Galadriel55 04-14-2013 04:37 PM

You guys are ridiculous. This is worse than the last 5 minutes of a werewolf game with only a quarter of the votes in. :D

I think that what you've posted in the last 24 hours is almost as long as the voting done prior. Absolutely ridiculous.

As the intellectual and educated elite say, ROFL.

Seriously, I am very sorry for making you traumatised by that image, sally. Though it was really the phantom who first mentioned Kristen Stewart.

It was very much like that indeed. Now I know why in WW everyone is allowed to have only one vote, and why even retractions are frowned upon.

I think the worst was happening only during the last, what, seven hours or so. That's about as much as I've been around.

the phantom 04-14-2013 04:39 PM

I only mentioned it because you were thinking it, Legate.

satansaloser2005 04-14-2013 04:42 PM

True, young sir, but this

Well, I woke up a bit under 12 hours ago to a massive number of votes too. Then it stalled, when I was around, and when I left it got crazy again.

The Kristen Steward idea is interesting given Thuringwethil's possible association with Lśthien. Just sayin'.

Edit: I'm aware of the typo, but it maxes my Tolkien geek credentials, right?

Yes, I was absent basically all day yesterday, so I was shocked to see the amount, and today it's been mostly the same, only I managed to be around especially around the last part...

No! Because now I can scare Sally further by the image of an old, ugly, bat-winged actress with long fingernails eating cherry tomatoes in an utterly disgusting way...

Like Denethor in the movies?

And, speaking of Thuringwethil's image, what do you think of these?

And this would actually be quite nice Thuringwethil, though I am not sure if it fits, also, hmm, mood-wise. Also, mostly I would imagine her with bat wings rather than feathered (but that makes these pictures more interesting, as an innovative idea). Actually, what are these? Because I am sure I have seen them somewhere very recently. (Anyway, the second one looks also a bit like Agan. ;)) But in general, back to the Kirsten Steward (ah! And this was honestly a typo from me, so apparently it works that way) idea, if you made these much older and uglier, it would be sort of like what I was talking about.

Me too. Just these are meant to be birds, not bats.

These are pictures of the birds from Slavic mythology. The second one is the bird Alkonost, and the first is either Alkonost or Sirin depending on who you ask; it's a fragment of Vasnecov's painting of both of them. There are two versions about these birds that I know of: one, that Alkonost is the bird of joy, and Sirin sings joyful songs that lure you into darkness and death (so she's the dark one). The other is that Sirin sings of happiness and Alkonost of sorrow (and also, that Alkonost makes a great storm when she flies above - the reasoning behind the second picture). So depending on which version you follow, the bird in the first picture is either Alkonost or Sirin. Here's the full painting:

EDIT: I did some research, and the second picture is actually Vasnecov's painting of Gamayun, not Alkonost. My bad.

A-ha. Now I know where I saw them. About a month ago, I was at an exhibition where they had the original paintings of these, and some more...

the phantom 04-14-2013 07:10 PM

*shudder*

Seriously, I think I'm scarred for life. And scared for life.

Make the birds go away!!

(I was thinking Thuringwethil was something more like this. But perhaps able to shift into something more attractive when in non-flight non-attack mode.)

Can't see the resemblance. It's just because she's blond.

Anyway I like Vasnetsov a lot, but I must admit my image of Thuringwethil is closer to phantom's.

Nope, it's the face. The mouth, the eyes plus eyebrows, the expression. Only she should have different nose. But otherwise, the first impression is totally you.
