Farewell....Farewell....dear friend! *stagger* *die*

Now we start the chase!

The Perky Ent 04-12-2004 09:10 PM

Um....Saraphim, the whole closing Balin's eyes thing is good, but if you throughly read my post, it said
Quote:

Ori pulled the arrow out of Balin
! So technically you're pulling out an arrow that doesn't exsist. Please edit your post so the dwarves don't think your crazy  just kidding!

Orofaniel 04-13-2004 06:45 AM

Hello!

I’ve filled in my save now, its post no #162. Anyway, it’s about the chief and how he was killed. :smokin:

Pyro- I ended my post with your character asking Lugnush about something. I thought maybe that would be a good time for him to suggest that they kill Nazklash.

After that, I or you could write a post about killing Nazklash. Carlas could also do that.

What say you?

Let me know,
Orofaniel

Carlas 04-13-2004 01:35 PM

Great post Oro! Wonderfully orcish... ;)

Orcs- So whoever is writing the post about attacking Nazklash will have to PM it to me when they're done so I can write my post around it. Thanks!

Amanaduial the archer 04-13-2004 01:58 PM

Oro - a lovely post. Truly ghoulish...*shudders* ;)

Um, I suggest Pyro write one post first when Uzgash approaches Lugnush. Pyro, you have to come up with some sort of a plan to kill Nazklash and propse it to Lugnush, eh?

Then we will kill Nazklash together. I'm seeing your post, Carlas, the last post about his death.

Is that alright?

Saraphim 04-13-2004 04:31 PM

Oops. Sorry Perky Ent. I guess I missed that bit. I fixed my post though.

The Perky Ent 04-13-2004 04:41 PM

Um...if there are now objections, i'd like to write the post where the dwarves kill the orcs and come back. If Aman or Imladris want to write it, no problem. I just like writing posts! It's fun :) I won't write the burial post...wait...we are having a burial right? We're all good dwarves here...right? So i'll write the post where we kill him, and return, but not the funeral. If anyone has any objections, i'll delete it! I'm very flexible!

WOW! THE GAME'S OVER IN ALMOST A WEEK! WOAH NOW! I'm gonna have to get in my final poetry! I forsee this will be the best part.

THIS IS GONNA BE REALLY FUN ^_^

Imladris 04-13-2004 07:58 PM

No problems, Perky Ent.

The Perky Ent 04-13-2004 10:56 PM

*****700th Post*******

Well, i've filled in my save. Not a lot of detains, but some killer foreshadowing ;)

So now we can start the funeral, do some posts, barr the gates and kill myself???

THIS IS MY 700TH POST!!!!!!!!! I'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A LONG TIME! FOR AROUND 500 POSTS, EACH HUNDRED HAD BEEN DECLAIRED ON THIS THREAD!!! I'M GONNA MISS DOING THAT :'( WELL, IT JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW THIS RPG HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!!! I'LL NEVER FORGET IT!!!!

Imladris 04-15-2004 11:20 PM

Anybody yet in Moria?

Okay...where is everybody? We only have six days to wrap this baby up. The gates need to be barred, Oin needs to have a good reason to go to Hollin, etc. If there's Writer's Block, read the chapter in FotR.

Cheers,
Imladris

Amanaduial the archer 04-16-2004 07:17 AM

From your post, Imladris, and from the Perky Ent's, I thought the battle was finished. Everyone is back from the Silverlode as far as I can see: as we only have six days and we have now had a few battle posts and pre-battle posts, I suggest we keep with this.

After Balin's funeral - shall we have this now? - it would be sensible for the gates to be barred: despite their losses, the orcs themselves will probably know what effect the loss of a leader could have, as no doubt those who planned the death of the Chief would have pondered on it before they acted. They might guess that the death of the dwarves' leader would have an adverse effect on their moral - indeed, maybe they planned this and that's why they struck at Balin: maybe it wasn't entirely coincidence?

Dain has had no word from the company in months, and could be thinking anything, and the real danger of the orcs is now being realised. Ori said that they need to leave - as Flori and Ori were the pair who were Balin's closest friends and were second to him in organising the quest, they would probably be taking charge somewhat, so this would be taken seriously. Maybe you'll have your character agree? Maybe your character will argue against this for whatever reason? They need to get their things together and get ready to leave, preferably without getting massacred, and so need to come up with a plan to get past the now-emboldened orcs. But the orcs are getting closer and closer - maybe another dwarf could fall? Soon the second hall is taken...and the rest is there.

What do you all think? Please do read through.

Imladris 04-16-2004 09:04 AM

I know I'm a game manager but I like that Aman. Yes, the battle is done as you mentioned Aman.

Orofaniel 04-16-2004 09:09 AM

Hello

Since there isn't much time left before the game ought to be finished, I was wondering if I just could set up a save for Pyro regarding the planning of killing off Nazklash.

I sent him a PM three of four days ago, but he hasn't answered yet.

So, is it okay?

Amanaduial the archer 04-16-2004 09:32 AM

I think that would be fine, yes - it means the post would have a specific place on the game rather than being messed up on the timeline. So if you want to, then yes, I think that would be fine.

Imladris?

Imladris 04-16-2004 10:14 AM

Definitely. We might have to do the same thing for Orual, considerring she's been absent lately...

The Perky Ent 04-16-2004 10:30 AM

Wait a second...if Balin is dead...and we're going to bury him...don't we need to build a tomb in the chamber of Marzabul?

Amanaduial the archer 04-16-2004 10:40 AM

We do, yes - that would be the funeral I mentioned. And as for the tomb...it would probably be a raised one, actually fairly similar to the film one? *steels self for criticism*

Imladris - Regarding your post of today at 4:04 - what did you mean? I'm not sure...

Imladris 04-16-2004 12:55 PM

You're game owner too -- you have a say. Your question I thought was directed to the players and I was just putting my two cents worth as well. :p That is the post you are referring to, right? Post 373?

Just saying I like your idea and all...

Perky Ent , I just read your post. I don't think dwarves would use the term "like" so often. Also could you add that Ori is gathering the dwarves for the funeral and that they are going to leave as quickly possible. Thanks.

Cheers,
Imladris

The Perky Ent 04-16-2004 02:16 PM

Imladris - Sorry about the "like" thing. I'll edit it! So you want me to have Ori to gather the dwarves for the funeral? Question, where. Am i suppost to lead them to the chamber of marzabul or will you do that. In other words, do we go to the chamber or do i just write that Ori rounded them up?

Imladris 04-16-2004 02:21 PM

No, just tell Ori that they are having an assembly. I'll do the funeral post sometime tonight unless somebody else wants to do it.

Saraphim 04-16-2004 04:23 PM

Poor, stupid Narin

As you've all probably noticed, Narin has an untimely crush on Lin. I still have to wait for mark12_30 to post to see what she says, but when the decision is made, feel free to ridicule, mock, and generally give Narin a hard time no matter what the response. :D

P.S: I promise he won't attack your character. :D

The Perky Ent 04-16-2004 07:14 PM

Wait, imladris, Nali tell ori to have an assembly in the chamber of marzabul or write that ori calles a meating?

Also where is the meeting? the chamber where the tomb is, or by Mirro mere?

Imladris 04-16-2004 08:14 PM

Ori tell Nali. Lets have the Assembly in the Chamber of Records, just because that'd be safer methinks.

Bringing this forward:

I have now done the funeral scene.

Imladris 04-17-2004 02:15 PM

Feel free to begin go bar the gates, anyone.

The Perky Ent 04-17-2004 05:06 PM

Umm...hate to catch you on a technicality (unless the movie has poisoned my mind), but doesn't the engraving on Balin's grave say: Here Lies Balin song of Fundin, lord of Moria?

Imladris 04-17-2004 05:08 PM

Yes, you are correct. Thanks. :)

mark12_30 04-17-2004 07:15 PM

inscription

"BALIN
FUNDINUL
UZBUD KHAZADDUMU"

...in runes. The inscription is in the book, you can translate it with the table of Cirth in the back of the book.

The Perky Ent 04-17-2004 08:40 PM

...wait....so who's right...Imladris or me?

piosenniel 04-17-2004 11:51 PM

Mark12_30 gave the correct source.

On the great slab of white stone were deeply graven these runes:

BALIN (Balin)
FUNDINUL (Son of Fundin)
UZBAD (Lord) KHAZADDÚMU (of Moria)

At the bottom of the inscribed slab, were these runes (They translate directly into English):

*BALINSONOFFUNDINLORDOFMORIA*

-------------------------------------------------------------

The words, 'Here lies', were not engraved on the slab.

Imladris 04-18-2004 08:29 PM

Thank you Pio. I will once more edit my post. I tried to find the real dwarvish runes, but couldn't after a few minute search. I know I was lazy but I need to get some reading done...

Unless another wants to, I will have the gates barred tomorrow.

Cheers to all,
Imladris

The Perky Ent 04-18-2004 08:57 PM

Ok, very sorry for causing that whole debate over the engraving!

I have no objections Imladris, feel free to barr the gates! I still can't believe i will soon have to kill my dwarf. I'm really gonna miss him. :'(

Tragedy is the best I always say.

I have had the gates barred. From FotR, here is what happens next.

Quote:

We cannot get ou. We cannot get out. They have taken the bridge and the second hall. Frar and Loni and Nali fell there. Then there are four lines smeared so that I can only read went five days ago. The last lines run the pool is up to the wall at Westgate. The Watcher in the Water took Oin. We cannot get out. The end comes then drums, drums in the deep.
Cheers,
Imladris

I'm Back!

Many, many excuses, most of them having to do with rotten schoolmates and unreal teachers. I'm guessing that I place my post on this discussion board and it will be edited in? I'll get my save written up tonight, and another post asap. As far as I can see, I have no outstanding obligations for the rest of this RPG, so I'll be here for the final morbid moments!

Perky Ent,
In my post after the save I'll beging preping Uzgash for our death scene. He'll be in a somewhat musical mood  Should be excellent!
~Pyro~

Imladris 04-19-2004 05:19 PM

Yes, paste your post here and we'll edit it in. :) Good to see you back.

mark12_30 04-19-2004 08:04 PM

Poor Oin, octopus-lunch!

The Perky Ent 04-19-2004 09:08 PM

Wait, Imladris, was that paste it hear directed to me?? Because Pyro and I have a death scene arranged, does that mean that he should post his part of it hear and i can copy it my post?

My last post!!! I'd just like the time to say, this is the best RPG i've ever been in!!

And BTW, how did you like my version of the 23 Pslam?

Imladris 04-19-2004 09:10 PM

No that paste was directed toward Pyro for a different paste. :)

Your 23rd Psalm was...interesting.

The Perky Ent 04-19-2004 09:14 PM

LOL! OK! Also, because i die at the second hall, or the bridge...i think the second hall...does that mean that we'll have to lose a battle from the orcs at the gates and retreet there? sorry, i'm slow on these things!

Pyroclastic 04-19-2004 09:32 PM

The Post

Here is my post for the save:

Uzgash leaned over and prodded Lugnush with his ax. Lugnush, the name suited the orc, he really was a lug. "Eh?" Lugnush grunted, "What do you want?"

"What do I want?" Uzgash said, "I want everything. I want the filthy, noisy, stupid dwarves out of Moria, and I want Nazklash dead. He’s become rather full of himself lately, ruling the orcs and all that. Claiming glory for the Chief Dwarf’s death. Pha! Jerky is all he’s good for, and there’s not even enough of him to bother with that!"

Lugnush looked up at Uzgash and was glad, at last they would get rid of the absurd little Nazklash. He really had gotten annoying lately, lording about as he did. Reminded him of old Turgrog…Lugnush had been there for Turgrog’s death, now he would be there for Nazklash’s death. "Nazklash has become lazy in his power. We can easily get rid of him, the orcs will rally to me." Lugnush promised Uzgash.

Uzgash already knew this, and was counting on it. He was ready with a plan. "I’m leading a company to the gates. Nazklash also has plans for victory in the entrance way, but he will not live to see them fulfilled. He and his troops will be rallying in the armory, myself and my company will meet you and them there. We will surround Nazklash, and you will announce his death and your new command. I will provide the troops, and you will provide the death. Is that clear?"

Lugnush could only nod his agreement. He was ecstatic, finally he would even the scores upon that twerpy little upstart of an orc. A slow smirk twisted across his ugly face. Tonight would be a night to remember.
